We have a Walker book called Let's Talk about Sex. It is quite straightforward and covers both boys and girls, etc. Whenever one of the boys has a question, I find the relevant section and tell them to speak to me if they have any questions after reading it. They rarely do, although they often want to discuss what they've read. I find that the book explains things much more clearly than I could.

Thanks they all look what i wanted.had a bit of a chat about how you get babies and all she talked about was you needed flowers so she really has no idea!

I bought dd the Girls Only book and it was very good, simple in its explanation without going into too much detail.

Do any of these books cover same-sex relationships? My dd, who is 6½, recently asked me how ladies who are married to each other can have babies (apparently these ladies are called limmians and don't have the special liquid as they don't have willies).

She caught me on the hop and I'm afraid I was a bit vague in my response.

dear god at 6 1/2 thats a whole lot of info ....good luck

I bought DD1 a brilliant one in the US. It was published by 'American Girl' Magazine, and is totally honest in a non-threatening or scary way. It has Tracy Beaker type cartoon pictures and uses correct terminology and is very matter-of-fact. As far as I remember, it was more about puberty and changing bodies and feelings than sex, but I thought it was brilliant. DD1 is a total cringer, and even she was OK with it.

Mummy laid an egg is quite good as a starter book, and hilarious too

Fater that I find the 'my body' Usborne type books are best, but I ahev boys who like facts

We have mummy laid an egg actually but she obviously hasn't taken it in!

Just worried as I started my periods at 8 and she is definatly changing so want to prep her.
