Complaining about a nursery I have no kids at

MY work is located on one side of a little bit of dual carriage way coming into the town. Furthur up there is a pedestrian crossing but opposite our windows is dual carriage way with a thin "island" seperation strip in the middle. This morning, the receptionist and I were gazing idly out of the window when along came 3 woman and 6 small children from the big nursery round the corner (expensive chain type and carers wear pinnies so could identify). We were horrified to see them cross the road opposite us, waiting on the strip in the middle, instead of walking up to the traffic lights/crossing on the single carriage way bit, 2 mins walk furthur. Not only that but instead of having one child in each hand, they each had 2 kids, held one hand and the children were in a pair-holding each others hand, so effectively could have lept into the traffic.
I want to complain because if they were my children, I would not be happy with that. If I just write to the nursery though, do you think they will just think "interfering old baggage" and bin it?

Well, they may, but they may pay more attention for the next time.

I would absolutely call! YOu don't have to identify yourself - make a phonecall to that place or the head office of the chain - prob the head office might be better, presumably the manager at the nursery can see herself how they are walking

God yea you must complain, if not to them then to the correct authorities! Thats terrible, really lazy of them.

KangaMummy · 08/11/2004 16:55

report them please to head office and maybe to OFSTED

Imagine if later on something happens

Ring the nursery and speak to the head, that will do...

Hulababy · 09/11/2004 10:47

I would ring the nursery and tell them what yuo saw, and how you feel it was an unnecessary risk. Don't worry if they think your are interfering; the parents, I am sure, would feel better if you did highlight this to the nursery manager.

Report the nursery to the local authority. Another mumsnetter did something similar a little back and got a good outcome.

I would ring the nursery manager, my ds went to a nursery and they took him out of there to the park up the road, with no permission from parents, so I complained to the manager and got an apology, it was only by sheer chance I saw them doing it otherwise I would never have known
