help! i've got to buy one more thing to qualify for free amazon postage. dd is now really into stories, as opposed to picture books. tops is Naughty Little Sister. we have 2 1998 editions that i found in junk shop: My Naughty Little Sister (which has the best story, the one with the birthday party/trifle) and When My Naughty Little Sister Was Good (with the story of the doll's house that gets used as a train engine).
i see from amazon that they've recently reissued the series. can't work out from the site if the titles i have are identical in content to the new versions? i don't want to end up duplicating. does anyone know?
would also really appreciate any other suggestions for different stories. illustrations are good, but we don't have to have them on every page. She quite likes Milly Molly Mandy but i get fed up with saying 'little friend susan' all the time
also i have irrational prejudice against stories that feature animals. i don't get on very well with pooh for instance.
would love some pointers

The 50th anniversary titles are the same, so the two naughty little sister titles you haven't got are my naughty little sister and Bad Harry and my naughty little sister's friends

I agree - they're great, aren't they. MMM does get too much after a while!

would clever polly and the stupid wolf be too scary for a 3 yo?

The other definite hit at this age with my boys was The Magic Faraway Tree . Again there are several editions and two or three books, but this is the first.

Paddington Bear is good too.

Dr Seuss books?
The Gruffalo ones and any other ones she's written

Burglar Bill is a favourite in my house

My dd was obsessed with the Wizard of Oz, I got sick to death of reading that one

roisin -- ace news. i am trying to order 'NLS and friends' but amazon is playing up and keeps emptying my basket.

will look up the other books i haven't heard of. many thanks for all the suggestions. i'm suppose i'm really after short stories, as opposed to picture books... not least because a collection = loads of stories = more variety = less headbanging (parental) boredom IYKWIM
