My waters have broken this morning and are still leaking out now. I'm 37+6 but haven't really starting contracting yet (well I'm still sat here for a start!!). Basically I have phoned the midwife who told me to see how I am at 9 and if still no contractions to go in to check that waters have gone (I'm sure they have, loads of them!) and if so see about when to induce me (my hospital has a policy of 36 hrs). But poor DP is still insistant that this isn't really it and that my waters may seal again. I know this can happen but I'm sure that applies to earlier pregnancy, am I right?!

Doesn't it depend on position of baby's head and if fore or hind waters have gone. The head can move dwon to reseal it. Friend's waters started to go at around 35 weeks and she was admitted for monitoring but was discharged and still went to term. As you are over 37 weeks though they would probably try to induce it.

Good luck, hope it goes smoothly.

I would definitely call in to the hospital to have it checked out.

Flossam · 08/11/2004 08:47

Just that at the moment I can't even get him out of bed to get it checked out!!

Hi Flossam. Don't know the ins and outs of it, but surely your DP should accept that your midwife knows more about labour and appropriate precautions than he does! I really really think you should get checked out - and would threaten DP with calling a taxi or ambulance unless he gets out of bed now!

yes, I was going to suggest a few load groans and pained expressions, without actually saying anything.

LIZS · 08/11/2004 08:55

lol @ggglimpopo . Tell him you've got cramps too, or a stitch, most dh/p's would err on the conservative side and rush you there asap !

Tickle · 08/11/2004 09:12

good luck flossam! with what sounds like labour kicking off, and kicking dp out of bed

lou33 · 08/11/2004 09:21

Your dh doesn't sound that surprisong floss. Mine wouldn't call an ambulance for me, despite me pushing on the bed, until he had checked the paper for bingo numbers, and even then he thought I was overreacting and argued that I only needed a taxi!

Good luck, hope it all goes smoothly

my dh decided to stop at the petrol station on the 25 minute trip to the hospital when I was in labour to check the tyre pressure because its best to do it when the tyres are still cold!!! and this was at 7am!!!

lou33 · 08/11/2004 09:30

I don't know why he was checking bingo numbers, we didn't a) do the bingo, or b) usually buy that paper, and c) iirc it was a couple of days old!

spacemonkey · 08/11/2004 09:32

I cannot image your dh having even the remotest interest in bingo lou, very bizarre!

lou33 · 08/11/2004 09:33

I know. He reckoned we only needed one number.

spacemonkey · 08/11/2004 09:34

He really is Larry David, isn't he

Tickle · 08/11/2004 09:34

lol jampot & lou!! hope you're on your way flossam...

lou33 · 08/11/2004 09:35
