Could do with some cheering up, both DDs come down with chicken pox yesterday they are both fine but it's horrendous trying not to get them to scratch especially DD2 who's only 22 months. So we are in quarantine for a week now.

Am also 7+5 weeks pregnant and am at that dropping down dead with tiredness stage, can't face food, I also have a mega sore throat and even if I could eat it hurts

DP is out until 10pm tonight as well, I am feeling thoroughly sorry for myself today, feel so down

I hope you are all feeling better soon. This morning I thought that dd2 may be commming down with cp but her ne spot hasn't developed into anymore. It's probably a good thing to be housebound for a few days so you can have a proper rest.

Huge sympathy to you - my DCs had this aged 4, 3 & 18mths and it was quite a trial. Actually, it was the same time of year, none of our friends wanted to catch it so close to Christmas, so we didn't see anyone for weeks (as the younger 2 didn't catch it from eldest DD for another 2 weeks so it was really strung out).

I got out all the Christmas books and films and let them get on with it! It was quite a novelty because I put the Christmas stories away in mid-January. Otherwise they'd watch Raymond Briggs Father Christmas everyday of the year.

You can give them Piriton, or something similar to suit their ages, to help with the itching. Unfortunately I didn't know this at the time and kept putting calamine lotion on - which they hated because it was so cold.

Good luck. It'll be over soon.

my huge sympathies. forget the calamine lotion and ask the chemist for the calamine in cream form - lot less messy and Boots recommended it to me, and stick some kids videos on the tv. u need a break.

hi have already got the calamine cream which I'm slopping on, can't get out to get to the chemist for Piriton, apparently you can get it in liquid form for children but the chemist didn't have any last night

have brought in the ball pit from the shed and they are currently playing with that, DP even suggested giving them a Christmas present early.

sweetkitty - we had exactly the same scenario in our house two years ago. i was expecting DD, and the two boys had chicken pox and were hideously grumpy and itchy. You have my sympathy! It may feel endless now, but honestly it all only lasts a few days. have you got a vid or dvd that the girls could watch - a 'feel-good' disney or something? and never mind if they have seen it three thousand times already, it's just the thing they need when they are ill. keep the house warm but not hot, and put some little bowls of water around to stop the air - and thus small ones' skin- getting too dry.
i had a big pot of aqueous cream out on the coffee table when my DC were itchy, and encouraged them to get a dollop of cream an rub it gently on to their skin rather than scratch(aqueous as you see from the title has very little except moisture in it).
what else is causing you to be down? i presume you don't fell 100% yourself. tiredness is a real contributor to feeling down and with the early pg hormones there is little else you can do but rest. yes two other young children -i know i have the t-shirt etc too. but even if you can't rest properly, SIT and don't you dare do housework...
BTW i'm off work today with sick DS1 (bucket at the ready) tmi, sorry
