What do you all do on Sundays ??

As you all already know, I hate Sundays, I find them boring and dull and tiring.

The dc's may possibly be starting swimming on sunday mornings after xmas, but at the mo there is a waiting list and so I need ideas of what else we can do on a sunday.

Occasionally we visit my dad, but thats only roughly once a month at the mo.

Sundays are the best for me! NO SHOPPING?.

DS (5 and a quarter, as he reminded me today!) is usually quite good a pottering around in his room playing with his toys or reading his books until 8 maybe 8:30 on a really good day?. then it?s up ?coffee ? breakfast for DS?. sit around with coffee for about 2 hours watching Boomerang ~ (Scooby doo and Tom and Jerry ) or somethimes a DVD like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Charley and the Choc Factory, Charley and Lola, Power Rangers etc -was Flushed Away today.. - then prep for Sunday diner?..bake buns with DS whilst oven is warming up?.cook, dish out, eat diner?.3PM all ready ? if weather permits ? nice stroll down to the beach and back. Time for bath, supper and bed?8pm ? goes downhill from here cos crap all on TV when I have some time to watch!! hey ho ? only about 12 hrs to Monday morning and back to school run and work for another week?.

rien...rien.

Not in favour of sundays

Get them outside!!

Our Sundays go:

Morning outside whatever the weather. Summer could be beach or cricket in the park, autumn chasing falling leaves, collecting chestnuts, winter wrap up warm and throw stones in the river, raining wellies on and go on a puddle hunt....Never really feel like going before hand, but it's truly amazing how much fun everyone has enjoying what should be the simple pleasures of childhood (me and DH included)

Then home to prepare lunch (leave joint in oven before we go) and DC's do homework. Maybe bake a cake.

After lunch, time to play with toys/ on computer.

c. 3pm Family swimming.

Then home for sandwich & cake tea in front of TV (only day TV's allowed on at mealtime, big treat).

Boys will have had shower at swimming pool, so no need for bath, which means we have time for a family game after tea. Mine are 4 & 6 and Scaredy Cat from Orchard Toys is the current favourite.

Only reason I'm here now is that DS2 is ill in bed (worn out?) so DH has taken DS1 swimming on his own .

We have lazy days on Sundays. Lounge around and get dressed late. We always have a roast dinner. Change all the beds ready for baths and showers in the evening. Nothing like getting into a nice clean bed on a Sunday night. And of course, iron all the uniforms/DH's work shirts.

Family swimming would be great, but local pool is still closed and not due to reopen until next December.

As I said, I am hoping that the kids can start lessons at a local schools pool after xmas, but that just depends on the waiting list at the mo.

Today

Got up at 7.45am
came here for a bit
had a long bath with dd
cooked with dd
later we'll all get ready for the week
sometimes we watch a family film on the projector on the wall

JackieNo · 25/11/2007 16:23

It varies wildly. Today, got up, DD had football training 9-10, then we went in the garden and raked up leaves for an hour or so. Then we had lunch, and I went and did the weekly shop, leaving DH and the DCs at home, the DCs had made a den in DD's room. Came back, I've been for a run, and the DCs are now doing some colouring in.

That sounds pretty worthy, doesn't it. There has been the odd chunk of CBeebies in there, and the entire day (and weekend, in fact) has been something of a carb-fest. Somehow can't manage much in the way of healthy food at the weekend. Oh, and I've done a few loads of washing too.

expatinscotland · 25/11/2007 16:23

we went out yesterday, so today we worked in the garden, clearing out leaves and cutting back overgrown bushes and hedges, trimming back ivy off the BBQ, sweeping the walkways.

then DH hoovered the cars out and i cleaned the insides.

next we'll cook tea.

then bath the kids.

DH's fav progammes, TopGear and The Long Way Down are on tonight, so he'll watch those whilst i do some baking and clean the kitchen and mop.

then have a bath and bed.

NomDePlume · 25/11/2007 16:25

Today

Got up with DD at 7.30am
Put a wash on
Went to Tesco
Gave DH his birthday presents
Made breakfast for 6 (DH and I, our 3 and DS1's mate who slept over last night)

Re potted 10 6ft leylandii trees that some shit decided to pull up from my front garden and hide in my next door neighbours garden(?!) on Friday. V upset about that, it took me 3 days to prep the ground and plant the baby trees out there last spring . Had to pot them so they don't die whilst I decide whether or not to plant them back out (am now paranoid that some other tosser will come and rip them our again).

Took DD to homebase for more compost, plant food and plant ties [thrilling]

DH took DS1 & mate to football

DS2 went to a friend's house.

Made DD's lunch

Sat on the sofa and did my Mum a list of instructions (she is looking after kids, house and animals next week whilst DH and I are away), then a bit of MNing and xmas shopping on line.

DH just got back from football with DS.

We'll be having a Thai takeaway later then it'll be bath & bed time for DD.

After that I'll be ironing all the uniforms etc for school.

ivykaty44 · 25/11/2007 16:46

I am so cut up about that ES - it hurts

BroccoliSpears · 25/11/2007 17:00

We have a big walk in the morning, whatever the weather, then cooked lunch, then just potter in the afternoons.

PestoMonster · 25/11/2007 17:32

followed by, lunch at the gym and the dds played in the soft play area whilst I read the Sunday papers.
Then home to watch a dvd with hot chocolates whilst I attacked the laundry. Chilling now with MN & vodka & tonic, pre dinner
