I would just like to say the England team did really well to get as far as they did.

MrsJackGrealish · 13/07/2021 09:58

@StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind

Because hes been a twat in the past with breaking lockdown rules nd drink driving.

For which I think he is a twat.

StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind · 13/07/2021 11:10

The drink driving is shit. Hope he's learnt his lesson for that.

The rest of it? Meh, I can't get worked up about it. Wouldn't put me off 😂

MrsJackGrealish have you seen that video of JG being attacked on the pitch by a Birmingham City supporter? It was quite shocking..

JohnStonesMissus · 13/07/2021 11:12

The video title said attacked by steward but it was a rival fan

MrsJackGrealish · 13/07/2021 11:14

@JohnStonesMissus

Yeah I have. Then he went and scored a screamer to win the game. Legend.

Yes they really did, the first England team to get to a major final for 55 years, they should be proud..
StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind · 13/07/2021 11:15

I've seen that. I feel sorry for Grealish actually. He's had to deal with a lot of crap. That was awful, but the worst thing I read was that he was trolled over his baby brother's death from SIDS. What kind of disgusting person does that?

JohnStonesMissus · 13/07/2021 11:16

He's a cool customer!

I didn't know that, how awful...
GrealishHairband · 13/07/2021 11:19

His sister has cerebral palsy as well, you can see he comes from a close loving family who’ve had some difficult shit to deal with.

StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind · 13/07/2021 11:20

Disgusting isn't it. Can't imagine how upsetting that must have been for him and his family.

Really disgusts me that footballers seem to be 'fair game' for criticism and trolling more than anyone else. From the media as well.

OP posts:
StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind · 13/07/2021 11:21

I agree @GrealishHairband - he seems a lovely ordinary lad from a nice family who have had a lot to deal with.

OP posts:
JohnStonesMissus · 13/07/2021 11:22

Yes, because they earn big money they're seen as fair game. Dreadful

MrsJackGrealish · 13/07/2021 11:26

No one would say that shit to his face though. All good for hiding behind a keyboard.

I dont know any of these people personally but it's no reason to lob abuse at them.

I think people have major issues in their own lives they dont want to confront so they take it out on people from a distance and under a shield of anonymity.

MrsJackGrealish · 13/07/2021 11:28

That said, could you imagine if these England lads read some of the things we've said about them here and on the other thread.

I'd be so embarrassed. Sorry Jack.

StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind · 13/07/2021 11:29

Oh I don't know about the other thread but I don't think there's anything that bad on here! I think it's pretty tame and would give him a laugh if nothing else!

It's not the 'I'd smash her back doors in' kind of stuff that lads so often like to say about women.

I know.

Certainly wont tell him about the dream I had about him that has left me knackered this morning.

But it's more adoration I think. Nothing wrong with being adored.

StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind · 13/07/2021 11:36

Harmless crushing and lots of nice comments actually about them as people and how well they've done.

I saw this morning that people have been leaving lovely comments all over Rashford's mural and he said it brought him close to tears ❤️ bless him. I keep thinking about him, Sancho and Saka and hope they're ok.

So proud of this England team, said it on one of the other threads but they've made me want to watch footy again after falling out of love with it over the years.

I would imagine they'd be fairly flattered..I know they can pick anyone they wanted but even so...
JohnStonesMissus · 13/07/2021 11:41

Same here (Man City of course!) The likes of Wayne Rooney, Ashley Cole and John Terry actually put me right off the game.

MrsJackGrealish · 13/07/2021 11:50

@StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind

I stopped watching football after my footie mad ex walked out on me and dd.

They've actually made me remember why I loved it so much.

StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind · 13/07/2021 11:56

I just gradually drifted away from it over the years after having kids- also felt it was becoming increasingly just about money and watching England until Southgate took over was just dire. Totally agree about Rooney, Terry and Cole. Put me off massively too.

I do actually miss it and I'm so bored now the euros are over, can't wait for the season to start now.

Where Grealish will be playing is another matter...
