My dh always complaining that there is nothing like mumsnet for dads. Just wondered how many other dads actually look at this?

there's fathersdirect.com and homedad.org.uk (sorry too late to do any more links), but the best place for full-on parenting is here

What about Mumsnet having a cateory for DADS? They could have a dads discussion etc but I wonder how many of us mums ('cos I would) log on and listen in? It would have to be fairly done and the mods would have to watch out for any thoughts from people not really happy with their men, in case a generalisation theme struck up, such as "OMG men!" Would men log on I wonder if they knew that their sthought/deepest worries would/could be read by women? Then again, it's easy to find dad's websites and comment, I suppose. Just a thought.....hope it's not going to start a them/us situation, it really was thinking about men/dads etc and how they can express their views. I personally think it's great if dads/men commnt on mumsnet generally, 'cos I think, judging by my dh, that sometimes they would like to ask stuff but get embarrassed and the answers are all here. Especially threads about rabbits, my dh lovs those

I think it's a great idea. This is a parenting website after all, and it would be nice to encourage dads to get involved.

I don't know...why can't dads just join in on the other threads? Most are about being a parent rather than being a mum.

I always think this about women's pages in newspapers - so women can't read the rest of the paper then?

5{'t dream of posting on a site like this - he doesn't feel the need or the curiosity. Similarly, I reckon 90% of childcare books are bought by women, and the parenting programmes on TV (Little Angels, Who Rules the Roost) are watched mainly by women. He enjoys chatting to other 'father' friends about behaviour and development, but never in front of those without children, and otherwise relies on me to do the research. And he says that fathers in playgrounds are less likely to ask about age or what stage they're at in walking or talking - that they don't want to be seen comparing. Do any of your partners feel differently?

muminlondon · 07/11/2004 19:49

That should start 'my DH wouldn't dream..'

Gobbledigook · 07/11/2004 19:50

It would be fascinating to hear what the Dads really think wouldn't it!

but men don't talk......do they??

muminlondon · 07/11/2004 21:25

Maybe they do talk, but they are careful about who they talk to... That's probably why they rule the world and earn more money than we do.
