Martha Graham started dancing when she was about 15 - and went on to form one of the greatest modern ballet companies ever. So if your daughter is fired, by the bug, let her.

why not?

i started at 3 and it didn't affect my development at all.

it's fun and a good way to keep active and excellent foundation for all forms of dance.

DD1 started at about 10 (she was a non-joiner of things till then, driving me bananas), and totally loves it, especially now she has pointe shoes. She's a lot more confident with her body than I thought she eer would be, and has lovely posture and poise.

DD1 is now 14 and her class is working on grade 5 (I think - they've skipped a couple of grades on the way ). She is the oldest in her class thoguh by at least a year - it doesn't bother her as she's a August birthday, so otherwise is always the "baby". I can't remember what grade she started at (they do IDTA exams, so there's lots of tap and modern exams in there as well). I know she struggled a bit for the first term, but really quickly picked it up after that.
Depends how your DD would cope being with younger children - mine have always been OK with being "out of age group" though.
