My ds1 is 3 and my ds2 is 4 months. I want to make a present with them for their dad but have drawn a blank. Any ideas anyone?

Last year i did footprints of both kids (then 3.5 and .5) then mounted & framed them for part of their pressie to DH. Also got a pic of the two together put on a mousemat for him.

get the 3 yr old to draw a lovely picture and the little one to personalise it with footprints...then get it either colour photocopied and framed (about £10) or made into a canvas print (more expensive, about £60 i think)

(great minds think alike, jude)

I don't know if you have a 'ceramic's experience' place near you but when my two were similar ages we went to our local one and made a lovely present for my Mum - the oldest painted a jug and then they both put their handprints on top. It was glazed and looks gorgeous (can't remember but I think it cost around a tenner - could be wrong!). They do other stuff apart from jugs. If their Dad would like a picture (again with baby handprints) you could do one on a proper canvas board (they had them recently in Au Naturel).

Wow - great website and great prices. The only downside is that they charge £7 postage regardless of order size - so not really an option. I like hte idea of the mug though. Can you buy those to decorate anywhere else?

I don't know. This company transfers a picture (either photograph or painting etc which you make on a specifically sized paper - template) onto all those things they advertise: mugs, towels etc.
Maybe they have some sort of ceramic paints for sale somewhere like Baker Ross, which you could use on a plain white mug you'd buy in Woolworths or Tesco say??
In some towns there are ceramic shops which let you paint your own mug. Where abouts are you? I know there is one in Farnham for example and think theres' also one in Surbiton or Wimbledon (can't remember which of the two).

or, could you get togeteher with some friends who would be interested in ordering from Allmyown work and you cpould all share the P&P? I don't know where they're based, but if you live nearby maybe they'll let you collect the stuff from the wearhouse? If you do decide to use them, I advise you order sooner rather than later as some items take longer to be produced and they're quite busy for Christmas too.

I just had an idea: amke a mouse mat if dh is using a computer at work
use an A4 paper and make a collage using some nice small photos of the kids, their handprints, drawings they'd like to put on that paper, their writing, paper shapes, a nice border with stickers or drawn in, whatever you & they like. make it in colour and make sure you fill it in as much as you can. photocopy the paper in colour (at this stage you might want to adjust how bright you'd like the picture to be etc) and laminate it.
before starting it's worth finding out if round or oval shaped papers can be laminated, then you can use that shape of paper to make it look better.
reprographics shops to colour photocopies and laminating.
