Just added this on another thread, but because clocks have gone back, its put this way down the conversation line. Just got back from my first night out since DD2 was born (6 months ago). Went to a terrible formal corporate thingy, sat talking to a woman opposite about how its taking me three hours to get DD1 (age 2.5 yrs), DD2 (6 months) and moi breakfasted, washed and dressed in the morning since weaning DD2, and this ignorant bint sat 3 seats down just butted in and said "well, if you're struggling now!! I can't believe you're finding it difficult, its so easy when they're that age!!". Would you be offended by this too, or am I just being sensitive. To cap it all, DH has just been sick all over the bed, so I am now in the spare room. Spare quilt is in the loft, so I have 2 baby blankets to sleep with!

oh no I would be angry too

poor you

Thanks Kangamummy - I sometimes get a bit over-sensitive!!! Why on earth do some mothers try to make others feel so inadequate?

I think when you are opening up to a complete stranger you are making yourself vulnerable to those like the one you met tonight. People do say stupid things and either she realised it was a stupid thing to say or this is her norm and she doesn't have anything helpful to say at all. I would avoid people like this and if you can't, avoid saying anything that they can attack you for. They are not worth it.

I wouldn't mind, but I wasn't even talking to the woman that said this. The woman opposite and myself had been talking for ages to each other, and this self-righteous one just butted in. I guess the consolation is I'll never have to see her again!!

Or if I do, I'll ignore her!!

PS I have DD 2 and DS 1 and if I get up at 8am, there is no way on earth that I could be out of the house by 11am. But I wouldn't tell some smug stranger this just so she could look at me disapprovingly!!!

Glad I'm not the only one. I thought of inventing a video game on feeding DD2 - its like feeding a windmill. You have to get the spoon through the madly circling arms, and into the clamped shut mouth, then try and scoop it back in as she spits it out!!

It's all good fun feeding our offspring. DD2 sounds delightful!

She is actually. I think she gets her eating habits from DH!! Anyway, I must get to bed now. Thanks for your shoulder!!
