Our youngest is 3 and is very suppal (sp??) she can do roly-polys, and loves to climb, run and jump. We want to get her into gymnastics while she is young as we think she will be very good at it, but don't know if she is just too young?? Anyone know??

gawd yes ... my DS goes (he's 3.8 and started at about 3.6)

a little girl had a trial at his class last week and loved it .. she'll be 3 at christmas

(think it depends on the class .. this one's run by proper gymnastics coaches .. and they had tried a mum and toddler class first which the little girl hated)

Am trying to find a club in our area but can't find anything. I'll keep looking.

Just found one. From aged 1, appartently. I haven't pushed any of my kids to do any clubs, I think that because Ds and DD1 have CP and I hate seeing them upset when they can't do what is required, but with DD2 she is just so lively and I think she will love this

how about tumble tots as an alternative?

mieow · 30/10/2004 22:51

The nearest Tumble tots is about 9 miles away, I'll look into that too. Thanks

my dd1 is also very supple. the other day she was standing by the wall, one leg on the ground, one leg almost straight against the wall upwards. effectivly doing the splits standing agianst the wall.

scary dd1. she can bend something chronic.

mieow · 30/10/2004 23:35

DD2 can touch the floor by her head, with her feet, scary

yup, our kids are bendy mieow. dd2 isnt very bendy tho. felt weird trying to get her to sit when she was younger as she doesnt bend easily. dd1 used to just fold in half IYKWIM. lol.

he started with mini gym that was boys and girls and then went up to a boys class as he got better and stronger and older

For one of the displays that he performed in while he was there OLGA KORBUT was judging but I didn't know who she was until my friend explained

mieow · 30/10/2004 23:55

Thanks KM, have just checked out the site, and went to the AA site and its about 40 mins from here, so will think about that one

It is really excellent and like I said it is run by proper gymnasts.

One of my DS friends went there and is now picked for the team she is a real natural.

The mini gym starts at 3 years

Glad I could help.

BTW there is a small car park I always found room but if no space then park over the road in huge sainsburys friends went to shop while DD in gym but I prefered to watch DS through the glass door IYSWIM

KangaMummy · 31/10/2004 00:08

oh and the gym is a BIG GREEN DOME shaped building next to the library.
