I am good at road sign welsh
eg dim parcio
pant cud
etc

Don't know this one tho

where I come form people say "car" for car! Wash (verb) is golchi I think. Perhaps Golchi Car or Maes Golchi'r Car?

I think that would translate as "place to wash car". But I'm not fluent - try Moondog?

Thanks ladies, any more from anyone? Moondog are you about

someone must know!

my welsh is fairly minimal but i found this: golchfa geir/golchfeydd ceir

mejon · 07/11/2007 16:12

It doesn't really translate in the same way. Car is 'car' or 'cerbyd' (vehicle to be precise) and wash is 'golchi' but putting them both together wouldn't be correct.

Puppydavies' 'golchfa geir' sounds good or 'man golchi ceir' (car washing place)would be another option or possibly 'golchfan' (place for washing/washing place) omitting the 'car' bit if you've already got car wash in English on the sign anyway.

not impressed with my "Maes Golchi'r Car" then!

mejon · 07/11/2007 20:26

Oops (or should that be wps!) - didn't mean to offend ! 'Maes' to me is more a field or park (maes parcio / maes yr eisteddfod?).

Kewcumber · 07/11/2007 20:44

obviously I was thinking of a large impressive grand scale park kind of car wash place! To be fair my welsh is nearly 30 years old now
