BLUBBING?

Like a horror film?

sparklesandwine · 06/11/2007 21:10

erm gosh i don't know starry, can a neighbour help?

morningpaper · 06/11/2007 21:10

please explain the symptoms

unless you have already been gobbled up by the toilet monster

sixlostmonkeys · 06/11/2007 21:13

the only thing I know how to check re loos is that ball shaped thing on the end of the stick thing - can you check to see that it is doing it's job and not jammed or broken?

StarryStarryNight · 06/11/2007 21:13

It goes: blubb blubb blubb blubb, and I can see air bubbles.

It did not do that this morning.

Last night I flushed the toilet and the water came all the way up before going slooowly down. So I called the plumber out, and he said there is a blockage but not on my property, it is somewhere out under the road, so I have to call the council tomorrow.

But now my toilet is blubbing.

HMM do you have a washine machine on or does it happen when you are emptying the bath?

Sounds like you have a blockage, definitely needs sorting out

Not much you can do at the mo

WatismyName · 06/11/2007 21:15

Blubbing as in crying! Jasus starry!
But seriously, have you checked the drains outside, if they are blocked with leaves it can cause a rumble. There are products you can buy that you pour down the loo to clear the pipes so to speak. Cant think of the name right now but try b and q tomorrow

StarryStarryNight · 06/11/2007 21:17

It is the mains SEWAGE. from toilet. baby crying got to go

By the sounds of it it is in the drains outside...based on your info.

If there is any chance it could be a blocage in your toiletty u bendy thingy you can get a hydraulic plunger and a toilet adapter from DIY shop.

They are fab - especially when a housemate uts a whole roll of loo roll down

morningpaper · 06/11/2007 21:19

Sometimes it might back up a bit if something else is emptying into the main drain e.g. a washine machine

Basically yes you have drain ISSUES and need to sort it out asap

StarryStarryNight · 06/11/2007 21:26

The plumber was here, he used the plunger, he staked from my manhole and out, but found that the blockage is out under the street. But no my toilet is blubbing and bubbling.... worried it shall explode in the night. Does that actually ever happen?

OP posts:
morningpaper · 06/11/2007 21:29

no it won't explode

what is probably happening is that when other water discharges down the drain, it is getting trapped at the blockage and all the water goes up the pipes a bit

you'll be okay until tomorrow

StarryStarryNight · 06/11/2007 21:31

Thanks morningpaper. I just spoke to one of my neighbours further down, and she heard gurgling noises when she was running the tap this morning.

Going to phone the council tomorrow. The plumber said the council should come out, as some of the properties around here are still council, and the pipework is joining all the houses up on one big drain...

not likely, starry, but I would cut RIGHT BACK on the water/ waste you put down drain till it's sorted.

Probably the blubbing is air from the drain coming back up, as someone else is emptying a bath/ washing machine above the blockage. If the blockage is complete, then sooner or later, the pipes will fill, and the waste will back up.

Get onto the council first thing, and until then, only vital flushes (poos only). Don't flush for wees, avoid baths/ showers washing machine etc.

A couple of weekends ago we had a blockage between our septic tank and the house, and we got just that blubbing noise when the washing machine emptied.

Dh and I ended up elbow deep in shit, baling the stuff out of th manhole, so we could see far enough to put the drain rods down. The blockage was caused by a door handle in the drain wonder how long that had been there!

sparklesandwine · 06/11/2007 21:43

don't think it will explode starry but think you may need to cut down on useage at the moment

sounds like you need those rod things to clear it, you can get them from diy shops or call someone and they should do it for you

StarryStarryNight · 06/11/2007 21:51

Should have kept the portapotti when we sold our campervan...

Thanks for reassuring me guys!
