Yesterday I was at My MIL's when my SIL came in with her new baby. My SIL are very close and I see her most days. After dinner the new arrival woke up and after feeding was given to me to burp. She brought it up and I layed her back and had a cuddle. About 5 min later my MIL grabbed her up and told me to stop hogging her. Now I think she was being completely unreasonable and I was about to hand her over anyway.

Anyway it got me thinking. How long is it appropriate to give a baby a nurse? Does it vary? Was I in the wrong?

i dont think you are being unreasonable. i just think people love small babies and when there are lots of people wanting a go it does get like this!

FGS it wasn't as though it was a stranger's baby you are related to her. You should be able spend as long as you like with her and well done for helping out your SIL, wish I had had such a hands on SIL - bet you change nappies and everything. Your MIL was being a tad pushy over her grandchild, maybe a wee touch of jealousy.

Thanks, when my dd was born she was huge help to me and I am happy to return the favor, not that I mind at all. We muumys have to stick together after all.

Maybe she was a bitb jealous. I was just taken aback that all.
