have you just added me?

tammybear · 29/10/2004 14:17

lol puff its [email protected] Just copy and paste it in, it might be easier

PuffTheMagicDragon · 29/10/2004 14:25

Oooooooh, this is brill, just spoken to Jampot! Feel like I have just come out of dark ages - you can put little photos on and pretty pictures.

I can talk to my cousin in the states etc etc.

Its fab

Gotta go and feed my children now, ds1 is shouting at me to get off the computer .

PuffTheMagicDragon · 29/10/2004 14:30

tammybear, have tried again, but msn is saying I can only talk to people with passports?!?!

Dunno what this means.

Ok, now, food - children.

MrsBigD · 29/10/2004 14:51

Puffthemagicdragon
it's another 'brilliant' product by microsoft...

have a look at www.password.net

the commercial info

or

have a look at alive.znep
for the real stuff

I wouldn't touch it with a barch pole

as msn is microsoft proprietary my guess is they want you to use passport, but there shoukd be an option to log in normally

MrsBigD · 29/10/2004 14:53

p.s. just did the install wiz and it looks you have to use the password... typical!

MrsBigD · 29/10/2004 17:13

passport even ;)

PuffTheMagicDragon · 29/10/2004 17:15

How can I do it without this passport thing then, cos it means I can only add people with the passport (what a pain).

Don't understand what the passport is for anyway.

MrsBigD · 29/10/2004 17:26

good question. I'll ask hubby tonight when he gets home . he uses msn a lot
until then

PuffTheMagicDragon · 29/10/2004 17:29

Ta MrsBigD

MrsBigD · 29/10/2004 19:51

just checked with DH and the 'passport' for msn is basically there to generate a user area for you as far as I understand it. So everybody has to use 'passport' so you shouldn't have problems adding anybody. He reckons though msn is the pits.

You've also got messenger with Yahoo, which is basic but o.k.

I used to use ICQ a lot

Problem there is that there are quite a few weirdos on their, but you have the option to make yourself invisible except for authorised persons. Actually met DH on there! .
At some stage I was using various live chat programs and used them all simultaneously through trillian

hope this helps. Any more geek questions I'm all ear

GeorginaA · 29/10/2004 20:09

I can thoroughly recommend using Trillian - I have friends on 3 of the 4 main messenger services so it's great to have them all under one program.

MrsDoolittle · 29/10/2004 20:49

Ok now where are you all?
I'm here Puff and I've got you on my contact list, so you should have me

PuffTheMagicDragon · 30/10/2004 02:15

Hi Mrs D - sorry didn'y get to talk - am in the middle of installing this trillian thing and trying to sort out being able to talk to msn people who don't have passports. Might have sorted myself out by Christmas!

essbee · 30/10/2004 02:24

PuffTheMagicDragon · 30/10/2004 17:44

Ok, so tonight apparently, my IT Support Manager (dh) is installing all the 4 main chat messenger things and then the trillian thing makes them all work together, so I can talk to anyone on any of the live chat things like msn and it won't matter who has or hasn't got this bloomin' passport thing from microsoft.

Thanks for the tip ladies about trillian.

Should be ready to rock "n" roll by about 2.00am!

Essbee, gonna add you to my list if that's ok.

PuffTheMagicDragon · 30/10/2004 22:19

Got trillian and msn and yahoo and something else.

Keep losing the connection for msn .

Can't work out whether people are online or off line or the connection is just dropping all the time .

Can't talk to anyone .

Bummer.

jampot · 30/10/2004 22:20

Puff - didn';t you want to add me

carla · 30/10/2004 22:28

Well, I downloaded... but can't find the thing at all. I'll be all your friends

wobblyknicks · 30/10/2004 22:29

If anybody likes me enough to add me, its wobblyknicks (at) tiscali.co.uk

PuffTheMagicDragon · 30/10/2004 22:34

Jampot - I did! Just can't get the bloody thing to work!!!!

Doh, I'm so cross .

Got msn all going nicely on Thursday, started to talk to new mates , now dunno what to do.

It was this passport thing on msn that confused me and now I even more confused.

PuffTheMagicDragon · 30/10/2004 22:49

I've added everyone that's given me their email address but its telling me you are all offline.

Anyone on msn at the mo that I can try to contact to get this damn thing to work?

colinsmommy · 30/10/2004 22:50

I am, if you need to see if it works. Mine is notbucket24(at)yahoo(dot)com

PuffTheMagicDragon · 30/10/2004 22:59

colinsmommy · 30/10/2004 23:01
