thought I'd ask as hubby probably won't do anything about his situation, except for getting incredibly p*d off and then probably doing something rash...

He's still in his probation period in his new job and his boss seems to be taking advantage of it. Hubby just got told (with 1 days notice!) that he'll have to start work at 8 am for the next month or due to timing impact on a project - contractual working hours are 9:30-6:00 but they've sort of got flexi-time so normally starting at 8 am would mean a finish at 4.30, and everybody else is doing it, except for hubby who has to work till 6 pm...

I thinks it's a bit weird or am I / hubby just being touchy? also boss knows we just had another baby so probably speculating that hubby is 'desperate' to keep the job

Any advice?

I would suggest hubby asks 'ever so nicely' if the extra hours can be 'banked' for extra time off over Christmas or whatever.

Otherwise they are taking the mick and I would suggest he has a quiet word with someone if there is anyone around. All he need say is that since he is new he it a little confused as to why he alone is expected to work longer hours. He doesn't need to get bolshy, but he is owed an explaination

crunchie -
well he's tried having a quiet word, but all he got is 'it's required', why nobody else is 'required' is still a mystery. as for time in lieu ... still waiting to hear on that one.

It's just so frustrating. Hubby gave up very lucrativ contracting and moved into permanent for job security a couple of year ago, only to be made redundant by the last 2 jobs - smaller companies; first one decided they didn't require his position (cost cutting - last one in, first one out) and the second one got taken over and yet again loifou.

So already a bit disheartened about permi positions and now he feels like they're taken the micky...
