Having professional photo of my boys for xmas - should I dress them the same?

What does everyone think - is it sad or not?

DS1 is 4 and DS2 is 18 months so wont be able to get away with it for much longer.

Am planning to get copies for christmas presents so older family members would probably appreciate it.

Downside is that I will have to try and find two matching outfits and photo is on Saturday morning.

I don't think its particularyly sad but I think it would be nicer to have them in different lovely things

fleacircus · 31/10/2007 17:51

Noooooo - if it were me I'd let at least DS1 choose his own outfit. (It's not me, I know, but you did ask. )

HectorsHouse · 31/10/2007 17:51

god no ... that's totally sad

I tend to go for clothes that are "them" IYSWIM. We had a photographer come into out toddler group, and someone persuaded me to get some photos taken of dd in dressing up clothes (always the first thing she heads for) and they are my favourite photos of her. They don't look stagey, and when I see them, I remember how she really was at that age .

Not suggesting you go for dressingup clothes , but you know what I mean...

I'd have same colours but different outfits maybe both jeans/trousers but colours that compliment for tops

eandh · 31/10/2007 17:54

I had ones done few weeks go of my dd's (dd1 is 3 and dd2 is almost 10months) and although they had co-ordinating outfits they weren't matching (dd1 had pink skirt and dark pink cord skirt andd2 had light/dark pink checked pinafore dress) have had ones done of them dressed the same but dd1 asked for something different this time)

jackielantern · 31/10/2007 17:56

I am heading towards perhaps same trousers but different (matching tops).

I think I may get jumpers (?) perhaps one stripey one not?!?

As you can tell I really need help with this one...

Not the same - colour co-ordinated maybe, but not identical.

TheHeadlessDuchess · 31/10/2007 19:20

OK, my DH is a photographer and he says absolutely do not dress them the same unless you are going for a retro 70s theme.

Agree though with the complementary colours idea. Do try and capture their personality.
