hello

our boiler light does not seem to stay alight very long, this morning it is only staying alight for about 20 mins then going out. what do you think is the cause? does this mean the washing machine will only wash cold water whilst the boiler is not alight?

Any advice would really be appreciated.

Thank you.

Tanya

Hi

TBH, I think it is pretty fair - as in my previous post, the PCB is the expensive part to go on a boiler so you are looking at over £220 just for that.

In my very original post, I didn't realise it was a shite job for the engineer to do, however it was the first time he had to replace that paticular part for that boiler and he is in his 50s so is very experienced.

That would definitely do my head in if I had to 'cope' the way you are with no heating/hot water, especially with the weather getting colder.

Would your plumber consider allowing you to pay his bill over a few months? We have done this for 1 or 2 of our customers before.

also you could see if your plumber could get a reconditioned pcb for a cheaper price

You can do a search [[http://www.energysavingtrust.org.uk/proxy/view/full/2019/grantsandofferssearch Energy Saving Trust] and see if any discounts or grants apply. Your local Council might run a scheme too.

Not sure if this will help on parts, but I think most people are eligible to make savings on buying a new boiler. As I'm about to .

Haven't read whole thread, just noticed you mentioned potterton...

Our Potterton boiler was a nightmare and we got a new PCB Board FREE because I rang up and complained and mentioned watch dog!
