Exciting place to entertain and dine 30 VIP's in London please

It's for 30 VIP Swedish clients. They are looking for good food, excellent atmosphere and possibly some sort of entertainment. They did mention some sort of Japanese restaurant where they cook the food in front of you but we would have to split the group up for this as each table only seats 6/8 people.

They would prefer Japanes/Asian. Cost is not an issue. They are staying at The Landmark so near to hear would be great but not a priority as we could coach them.

I've already suggessted Nobu, Sumosan and Royal China. Not quite what they are looking for.

Ideas please........

TIA!!

Benihana on the Kings road - seem to remember you can get about 10 people around a table.

Or could you go for somewhere that just does the entertainment and have a private room with a hired in sushi chef - friend had one for a party at his home and he showed us all how to make stuff.

There are a couple of restaurants in china town where you can hire a private room for kareoke!! The serve a banquet type dinner while you are singing

That would surely be entertainment enough for them...

Hakkasan, 8 Hanway Place, W1T 1HD. i've never been there but it made a splash when it opened last year

or there's always Mr Chow's in Knightsbridge but i have vague memory it's quite small (but v 'eventy'). is the landmark the one on marylebone rd?

Northerner · 27/10/2004 13:51

Probably not what you're looking for, but Red Fort for Indian or Asia de Cuba for fusion and people watching.

Recently we organized champagne cocktails in the London Eye for our group as a nice pre-dinner event - went down very well and they did a very nice job of it (check out their website).

Hakkassan, food was lovely when the boss took us, and apparantly you might bump into a celebrity..

Northerner · 27/10/2004 14:58

Nickola - my clients are VIP'S. I think I'd lose my job!

But it does sound like great fun for a MN meetup.

oh even better i can be a vip xx have a lovely time sorry to go off the subject xxxxxxxx

Northerner · 09/11/2004 13:05

Guess what? They've changed their minds. They don't think that Asian will appeal to the majority, so now it's got to be French or Italian and if possibel near to the Landmark Hotel.

Any ideas?

TIA

what about Claridges? Gordon Ramsay food and great atmosphere - or the Savioy River room?
havwe a look at www.squaremeal.co.uk

soapbox · 09/11/2004 13:28

Try toptable

They have a group booking function.

One idea is that I think you can eat in the Captains dining room at the top of tower bridge and watch the boats go by! You could ferry them there by boat???

bakedpotato · 09/11/2004 13:34

is thelandmark on the marylebone rd?

is thelandmark on the marylebone rd?

bundle · 09/11/2004 13:35

yes, i had afternoon tea there once as a special treat from a gay friend, when i was sad & single...we both dressed up & he agreed to be my beard for the day

Azure · 09/11/2004 13:37

What about Locanda Locatelli? Not cheap, but very good. Or the Conran place Orrery? The Square Meal website is good Square Meal

bakedpotato · 09/11/2004 13:44

what a nice friend, bundle. potted palms and piano playing and a huge atrium, no?

i was going to suggest orrery too because it's on the doorstep

but if it's general fantasy meals you're after -- the wolseley on piccadilly. buzzy, beautiful, fantastic service and very simple, sensational food. french-ish, i suppose, if you squinted. but not pretentious. (had bday treat there recently. sigh)

Northerner · 09/11/2004 14:01

Thanks for these guys I'll look into them.
