DD (6 months) normally goes to bed around 6 - 7pm .. but she got cranky at 5 so I put her down for what I thought was a short nap (she normally naps for 30 minutes in the afternoon) .. but

She's still asleep

do I wake her? and put her down properly in an hour

my mantra is normally never wake a sleeping babe

Oh dear! Dd (1) did this the other day and was up very early in the morning. Still havent sorted it out back to normal. She only had a nap today at 4.30 and was up after half and hour and I didnt try to get her back to sleep.

I hate it when they do that . Not sure what I'd do - did she miss an afternoon nap?

Twiglett, DS has done a similar thing today - having harped on at the childminder a squillion times about how he doesn't "do" naps. Never. Ever. He decided to sleep for 3 hours this afternoon and then she had to wake him as she was worried about his sleeping tonight . . .

The little blighter.

Bit late now, Twiglett, but DS did the same thing & we woke him up around 5:40pm. 4am wakeups are not my idea of fun!

Twiglett · 25/10/2004 19:30

she grumbled at 6 so I went to get her and she 'dream-fed' .. the little blighter

when DS used to have long naps in the afternoon he'd sleep better at night Libb

It's too late for today.... But perhaps for future ref:
I know it feels so wrong to wake a sleeping babe, but I have found (although never could do it with DD1) that with DD2 if I need her to wake up, opening the curtains, and/or turning on the light and leaving them for a few minutes does cause them to wake as naturally as poss (if they are used to sleeping in the dark) and when you go back in, you should find a gently roused and pretty happy baby...

If she does wake even early in the morning, you might be lucky enough with a short feed (one boob, or half usual milk) and settling again until a more suitable hour Here's hoping!

My two always wake the same time in the morning pretty much regardless of how early or how late they go to bed so fingers crossed for you!!!
