Hello, I need anyone who can cook's help! I want to buy dp a set - or just one or two if pricey - of kitchen knives for his birthday. He's a brill cook and he obviously has loads of common or garden knives in the house but I really want to buy him something of chef's quality. Unfortunately I'm stuck as I haven't a clue about makes, sizes etc. What's good? What to avoid? The only make I know is kitchen devils but I don't think they really cut the mustard if you pardon the bad pun... Any help appreciated

If you do put them in the dishwasher, put them blade down! Do you remember the story in the papers a few months ago, of a woman who slipped while she was unloading a dishwasher, got impaled on a kitchen knife and died?

Jan'04 and the sunday papers are running the special add on the saucepans - £99 and they throw in the knife set for free - Would be interested to know if a year on you still rate the products? I thought the handles got a bit hot but not used to s/steel and perhaps its the norm? - not sure whether to return or not for refund? - Any advice would be welcome - Cheers!
