does anybody else have them apparently hatching en masse in their homes? what is going on? and they are not hatching and flying off, they're huddling in a corner.

We had hundreds of them in our house back in the summer but I've not seen any around for a while now

I have, they sound like harlequin ladybirds, ours are. Collect some and send them off to here
They're a nightmare.

Am I the only person in the world to live in the country, have a big gardens with loads of different flowers and plants and have a Ladybird house with attractant no less and I've never seen 1 ladybird and the ladybird house is full of earwigs and woodlice.

They're going into hibernation, sasquatch. Try to keep them off your soft furnishings, as if they are disturbed they bleed from their legs, which can stain fabric.

I used to report my sightings of harlequins diligently, but gave up when I had to brush one off my wing mirror... In my part of south London they are common as muck - you see lots of the larvae around too (they're more spiky than other ladybird larvae).

we have them in our upstairs windows. all very weird

Beenleigh · 22/10/2007 22:14

It's sad isn't it, I used to love ladybirds, but these little blighters just aren;t the same!

Beenleigh · 22/10/2007 22:16

There is one halfway up my kitchen curtain. I keep looking at it and thinking this can't be hygienic but haven't had the heart to move it yet.
