is it meant to be a diary?

is it meant to be for the benefit of your friends and family?

dietgirl (she's just written a book, very inspiring weight loss)

i work as a freelance designer, it was a quick, easy way of putting together a web site and on line portfolio

When my DD2 was on the way (we knew she would go straight into intensive care when she was born)we started a blog so that we could update our friends and family on her progress once she was born.

The blog was extremely useful. It allowed people to check daily on DD2's progress. I also found writing it quite cathartic. I could log in from the hospital library and I really enjoyed reading all the messages of support from around the world.

We have since pointed other parents whose children have been diagnosed with the same condition as DD2 towards the blog and I think that is has been very useful for them.

We still update the blog (she is now two) and we plan to print it off and have it properly bound, as it's a very special piece of family history.

ggirl, you can use google to search blogs specifically.
There are some great and really worthwhile ones out there - both for general and more closed consumption - but a lot of old rubbish too. Real drivel
It can be whatever you want it to be!

LadyVictoriaOfCake · 17/10/2007 19:44

have u seen mine www.waitingforthecall.blogspot.com

i found it very useful for myself, to get it all out at times. and also hope that maybe someone whose partner is on an LVAD will find it maybe.

i already know other LVAD patients have seen it, and some have commented in it.

same as the video on you tube

Well, yours was one of the "must-reads" I was thinking of, and really vital ones like patsy's

twinsetandpearls · 17/10/2007 20:39

We do a blog with dd, we started it when her dad moved away so he could see what she was doing.

DD laos enjoys it.

notnowbernard · 17/10/2007 20:41

Patsy, what a lovely idea

Hope your dd is in good health now.

PatsyCline · 18/10/2007 11:44

Thanks, NotNowBernard (your MN name always makes me smile ).

DD2 is doing pretty well now (we still have a few dramas) but her long-term health is expected to be very good. She was born with a giant exomphalos (addominal wall defect) and it has been a hard slog getting her to this point.

She's a great girl - to know her is to love her!

I've just started one, kind of as a diary, but just for fun, to get me back into writing

if anyone reads it that's great, if not, it's fine too. I just write about things I have been reading and a bit of my life

it's also a jokey attempt to be positive as I am such a moany cow, I thought I would try to do something that had no moaning whatsoever (not that that has worked)

it's just for fun, really

PatsyCline · 18/10/2007 11:47

Sorry, meant to say just in case soeone reads this who might find the info useful - there is a fab site called carepages.com which is free to people with sick children/family.

It's a bit more sophisticated than a blog (password access, registered friends and families notified when you update etc).

I read the thread title as 'what is the point of a bloke'

wheelsonthebus · 18/10/2007 12:10
