No its not another sex survey, I was just wondering if anyone else felt the earthquake. I woke just before 1am and in my semi-comatose state heard a sort of rumbling/rattling noise. I asked DH what it was but he thought that it was probably just somehing falling over in our junk filled bedroom. He rolled over and went to sleep again and I carried on wondering and worrying. It wasn't until we heard the news this morning that we realised what it was. I bet the people nearer to the centre got a real shock but fortunately we were far enough away not to be affected too badly. Amazingly all three children slept right through it.

Its not something we really have to worry about in this country so it is more of a novelty I suppose.

About ten minutes from Birmingham city centre and YES it moved! DH was convinced somebody was breaking the door down and I was being Little Miss Calm, saying "relax darling, it's just an earthquake, go to sleep". Terrifying in that first instant tho, to be woken by such a noise and shaking. I didn't know earthquakes made a noise so this has been a learning experience for me!

My daughter just came down from the bathroom, looking ashen and saying she'd heard a loud noise. She was convinced it was an earthquake. We then discovered the toilet seat has broken in half!!

Well, everything shook here - I woke up, thought: 'oops the boiler has gone again', and went back to sleep, thus missing out on all the excitement. Darn, although has to be said that I was mightily relieved about my boiler in the morning.

I watched the news with amusement. Being a Kiwi, I'm used to those sort of things, we get one or two of that magnitude every year. I'm a bit disappointed I didn't feel it, might have made me a bit homesick.
