....is how my new hair colour makes me look. A vain and shallow post this one I'm afraid girls. I had my hair cut/coloured yesterday and it is just too blande. Judging by the tingling at the time quite alot of peroxide was used. Does anyone know of anything other than a trip back to my extortionate hairdresser which will just take it down a bit. I still want to be blonde just not SO blande!! TIA-sallow faced spook XXX

If it's gone yellow and brassy looking there is a shampoo called a Touch of Silver. You get it in most chemists. It is really and old persons shampoo but it works a treat. It's purple in colour and counteracts brassy tones in natural blonde or bleached hair. It won't look less blonde, just a softer blonde. If it really is too blonde for you then I wouldn't suggest putting any other sort of colour on it. I've done this before and ended up with murky green. Once peroxide has been used you have to be really careful what you do next. Unfortunately you might need to go back to the hairdressers. can you try a different one? I really do sympathise as this has happened to me. Good luck hope you get a good result xx

that happened to me a few years ago spook, it looked bloody awful! I went out and bought a blonde tint (one of the L'Oreal Excellence ones iirc) and it worked fine. I don't know what your natural colour is, but I got a light ash blonde and the ash tint took the brassiness out, but I've got a natural ash colouring anyway.

posts crossed there, mine didn't go murky green, but I guess to be on the safe side you should go back to the hairdresser

spacemonkey, your colour was probably a better idea. I tried to go back to my natural colour with a darker dye, hence Khaki head. It was horrible. I remember having to go to work the next day and everyone was asking why I had dyed my hair that colour . I couldn't get to the hairdressers for two days to sort it out.

Thanks girls!! Maybe I coud buy "A Touch of Silver" at the same time as I buy the piles cream for the bags under my eyes!! Then they might actually believe the sick granny story. I may buy a blonde tint SM. If it does go green I'll post a pic of me and cheer everybodys Weds up

spook, i am a qualified hairdresser and if they used bleach and its gone brassy then just going to echo what others have said... you need to put some ash/silver in it to cancel out the reddish/ orange colour..buy a tint because it is not so harsh and when you put it on keep checking it by using a bit of cotton wool on a small section (wipe colour off )... dont keep it on too long. dont forget if they have done a full head of bleach your hair will be very tender so buy a deep condition treatment too hth xxxx

p.s the only way your hair will go green is if you decide to go darker and you buy a ash brown, if you decide blonde isnt for you after all get a warm colour i.e something with a bit of red in.

go back and complain to the hairdresser .. they should fix it for free

spook · 20/10/2004 09:44

Oh lilsmum thankyou!1 What is a tint then-semi-permanent? Twiglett. I haven't got time TBH! Am off to Ibiza v early on Fri morning and can't be arsed to sit in hairdressers for another couple of hours. But I know you're right. I am also scared!!!My hairdresser is pretty scary!

Go back to the hairdresser and dont pay any extra they did not get the right result. I have gone through every colour in the book adn am now bright (and I mean bright) red! Was peroxide blonde but my hair is natrually reddish and I needed the silvery tones to cancel out the straw, red, orange effect. My hairdresser used to groan when he saw me coming in as it took so long!

Twiglett · 20/10/2004 09:50

IKWYM .. hairdressers scare me too .. no other profession does, can hold my own with doctors and consultants .. but sit me in front of hairdresser and I suddenly go 'mmm, that's nice' even when they've made a right cock-up

bloke in toni & guy once gave me a zig-zag parting .. I have curly hair and was in my mid-30s .. I cried after I left and ran home to wash it .. but what did I say to him 'mm, that's nice'

spacemonkey · 20/10/2004 09:54

I can't stand hairdressers, find them very intimidating
