Baby changing facilities

What are the changing facilities like in your local area?

In the small town I live I find the they are very poor, most places just have a very basic fold down table that is nowhere near good enough for an older toddler still in nappies.

Anyone else finding facilities inadequate :-(

My biggest gripe is baby change nearly always being only offered in the ladies toilets. The majority of toddlers are out of nappies by 2.5 I'd say so if it's a squeeze on the tables towards the end that's inevitable - annoying whilst it lasts though!

It's as if town planners think only mums change nappies and all kids are trained at 12mths.

Greater London here and some places are fab (many pub grub places suprise me) while others are woeful.
I get what you're saying about bigger kids and the struggle as my DS is 98th centile for height and weight.
Worst by far was Easyjet plane toilet last week. DS nearly ended up in the loo! Obviously it's understandable why it has to be small but it was like an extreme sport.

Baby changing facilities are 100% gross. I’ve never been in one that actually seemed clean and nice enough to change the baby on.

I’ve always just changed her in the car / park etc but dreading winter coming and having to actually step foot inside some of these monstrosities

@ShirleyPhallus I always take my own fold up mat, and when she was much smaller some anti back spray. I'd clean everything then lay her on mat, change her and put her in buggy. Then I'd clean the mat I'd bought both sides and put it back into my change bag. They are grim

I now change LO over my lap, he's not keen on it but it's better than trying on a flimsy fold down surface or on the floor.

Quite a few times I've found the only baby change available has been in the disabled loo. By the time I've cleaned the table, unpacked what we need, wrestled the baby, changed, cleaned up, repacked and washed my hands I feel like I've been in the loo for an age and am very conscious about anyone with any urgent need waiting to come in. I guess they are just bunged in there because of space but accessibility has been fought for so hard by people with disabilities I don't feel very comfortable taking over the space, but there's often not another option :(

Yeah, it doesn't seem right does it.

I just wish they had more substantial changing tables where I am, those flimsy fold down things are useless for a bigger toddler who doesn't want to co-operate.

The cleanest ones I've found have been the ones which don't include a toilet in the room. That does come with disadvantages, especially if you have a baby that needs a change and a toddler in tow, but clean always wins, and you're never making someone who needs the toilet have to wait for you.

I mostly resorted to laying the pushchair flat and putting my own change mat in it, then giving it a wipe before putting it away.

When my twins were little I couldn't even get a double buggy or tandem in with me. They were the worse.
