it must have happened loads of houses & apartments, death and suicide, i guess the last thing on their minds is re-sell value.....

you might hear of it if recent but two or three occupants down the line then you might not know at the time,

a builder could've been killed building new build even..

cheery thought for the day

sad but life, and death...i guess

Cappucino, how do you know the house didn't drive them to it? Mine winds me up every day.

it would freak me out. Death by natural causes is one thing, murder and suecide is quite another.

I knew someone who bought a house where someone had hung himself, she didn't actually know when she bought the house, then one night she woke up and saw someone hanging at the bottom of her bed. It was only then that she did a bit of research and found out what had happened.

our house was new build about 10 years ago, and I'm sure it has a presence in it, because I often feel as if someone is watching me and things disappear, like my ring that literally disappeared off my finger for three months and then turned up on the kitchen floor one morning.

some houses you instantly feel comfortable in, others not so

I am not sure in the OP instance, I would go with how I felt on the viewing, ie did I want to run away screaming

GColdtimer · 10/10/2007 11:36

I agree with cappuccino, I love the idea of a house needing someone to cheer it up. Suicide is sad and tragic but - the house didn't drive them to it.

If you feel comfortable about a house before you know its history then its just an over active imagination giving you the heebie jeebies.

Awful sad story but my friends husband did kill himself in their bedroom. She stayed there for a year before moving and she did tell the new owners what had happened. They weren't put off but I think they did get it blessed.

My parents looked at a house for dh and I once, it turned out the husband had hanged himself there and I felt rather relieved that we didn't buy it

themoon66 · 10/10/2007 11:42

This reminds me of the car me and DH went on honeymoon in. DH didn't tell me until afterwards, but his company car had been driven by his predecessor's wife one day. Predecessor was following her in their family car. She stopped on hard shoulder and he pulled up behind her, walked up to her window and leaned inside to talk to her.... when.... suddenly... a lorry passed by and took his body and she was left with his head in her lap

And DH thought it was okay to take me on honymoon in this car

edam · 10/10/2007 12:01

OMG themoon, that is appalling. Blimey.
