second bottle of red tonight.......

emkana · 17/10/2004 21:04

I was just going to start a thread on this! I was absolutely gobsmacked when she gave him the bottle of beer. And I always think that it's not a typical SAHM life they're experiencing when they stay at home for two weeks, because they are so isolated then. I see people every day, sometimes I'm glad to have some peace!
Would love to know what happened to them... anyone watching the follow-up on BBC 3?
Oh and another little thing: Take your 15 month old to have their hair cut at a Tony and Guy salon? More money than sense me thinks!

codswallop · 17/10/2004 21:05

yes am watching an fortune telling tn eh other thread
so hold on

Great, coddy, look forward to the update!

I just couldn't believe it that she would want to be seen on national TV to be giving alcohol to a three-year-old. Surely that must be illegal???

codswallop · 17/10/2004 21:12

as dh said

OP posts:
Twiglett · 17/10/2004 21:13

exactly what I was saying to DH

beer and forcing wine down a 3 year old

it's not cute and its not clever

Twiglett · 17/10/2004 21:13

not illegal in your own home I'm afraid .. but tantamount to child abuse IMHO

Twiglett · 17/10/2004 21:14

an odd sip of alcohol when a child is begging and begging is OK though .. I'm not totally anti

codswallop · 17/10/2004 21:14

I can't believe she gave him beer, horrifying.

KangaMummy · 17/10/2004 21:17

I was so shocked and that she didn't even seem embarressed or tell him NO.

3 year old with beer bottles and wine

I wouldn't be surprised if she still has the Nanny even though she's given up work. How come she is still able to visit hairdressers so easily?

codswallop · 17/10/2004 21:24

looks like they have had a monstrous extension

Right... I'm really going to put myself right in it now... will probably be hounded off Mumsnet forever...
but here goes...

I really don't understand why people choose to work full time when they have enough money to work part-time or stay at home. I mean, the stress, the tiredness... why would you do that to yourself?
It just makes me realize that there must be something about work that I don't get. I don't miss it at all. Just don't understand the "kick" people get out of it, not at all.

codswallop · 17/10/2004 21:28

and hte littel baby i s uper cute
i love tiny boys

OP posts:
codswallop · 17/10/2004 21:28

I agree emkana but htis is hallowed turf on mna nd you ar e NOT allowed tosay it !
Imo she was kidding herself about her job.

theres more to lif ehtan work

OP posts:
emkana · 17/10/2004 21:33

I was just reading an article today where someone said they would lose their identity if they gave up work, and that's what the woman on hte programme said too.

I don't get that either. I'm still the same I always was, just older and wiser and a Mum now, but essentially the same. I don't feel that work had anything to do with my identity, I enjoyed it while it lasted and it paid the bills, but otherwise...
And I was a teacher, so not just any old job

kkgirl · 17/10/2004 21:34

Emkana

Its obvious!!! She wouldn't be able to have her hair done at Toni and Guy or drive her convertible BMW. Her garden was bigger than the whole estate I live on.

How the other half lives eh?

lou33 · 17/10/2004 21:35

She gave up work and a year on says it was the right thing to do. Kids are happier etc etc.
