Is it right not to be with your kids new years eve. Mil has offered to have ds and dd for the night so me and dh can go away for the night. New Years Eve hasn't been celebrated in our house for a couple of years as dd was born late Dec then my g'dad had a stroke New Year Even and died a few days later. I've always thought of Christmas being for the kids and new year for the adults. But now I'm feeling a bit guilty about not being with my kids even though they'll be asleep and not know whats going on!!!

Oooh, go out if you've got the chance!! I would!

So would I. Babysitters are hard enough to come by at the best of times but New Year's Eve? You have to go. As you say, they won't know anything about it and they'll have a great time with their grandparents. Go on - you know you want to ...

Me and dp are going out. Went out last year with dp too. Year before, dd was not even a month old so was in with her. Too tired to go out anyway. If MIL has offered to look after them, then you shouldnt feel guilty about putting someone out or something xxx

I say definately go away and enjoy yourself. We are facing the prospect of another boring new years eve spent at home. They are not going to find it the least bit exciting, and after all the excitement of xmas will prob need a good nights sleep!.I would jump at the chance, parents are entitled to a life too.
