my baby chokes after night feed

My 9-week old baby, Lydia, regularly struggles with phlegm after her post-midnight feeds (bottle or breast). She simply cannot seem to swallow or cough up whatever is there. By sitting her up and patting her back relief is achieved but I am so worried that I'll sleep through an episode (unlikely, I accept). Does anyone know of the reason for this problem, have a similar experience or even a solution?

Jestly, I have a thought. Does she generally have a cold at the moment? I know when I have a cold, drinking milk makes my mucus situation much worse (sorry if that is tmi). Might giving a mixture milk and water help? I presume she still sleeps on her back. I used to find it help my 2 if they slept on mine oor their dads chest for a while, on their fronts. It isnn't particualrly comfortable but ababies always slept really well and it might get her through this mucussy phase.
I may be talking nonsense here. Hopefully someone with more understanding will be along in a mo. Mears perhaps?
You HV would be a good bet for advice.
Oh, and welcome to m,umsnet by the way. Nice to meet you. Thanks for your support on my thread. See you around.

Hi Jestly - just a few thoughts and bumping your message:

Is it only night time? day time ok?

If her breathing is also affected at night it could be an allergy to bedding...

Otherwise, try propping her up a little when sleeping - is she still in your bed or in her own cot - if the latter, raising the mattress on a book might help.

Sorry no more constructive help, but I'm sure someone will be along soon with something more useful!
