Hello I wonder can anyone answer this? I found this website about a week ago and love it and have logged into it for about an hour every few days. The thing is I get my laptop and broadband connection paid for by my work. How does mumsnet work i.e. how do they get paid for the use of this site ? Will my work be charged a rate for my usage - I hope not !?! I'm a bit worried about getting called into HR in a few weeks time. Is anybody else in a similar situation ? Or even private users is a call time displayed on your bill? I'm quite worried so if anybody knows I'd be very grateful of an answer.

MN ask for payments to help keep the site running but you aren't automatically charged anything - its up to you to pay what you think is fair, usually once a year. HTH

Thank you - do they just e-mail you and ask for a cheque to be sent ?
PS Whats HTH ?

hope that helps

I'm pretty sure they email a reminder a year after you last paid (can't remember) but I don't think they email you out of the blue to ask you to pay.

Thank you for replying, that helps a lot ! A man at work got sacked today for 'inappropriate internet usage' which was obviously a totally different site to MN but it got me thinking and then got worried.

There's no way your work will know you're logging on to mumsnet. There is no detailed bill with broadband.

Click here to find out more abour subscriptions

There is NO charge to use Mumsnet at all. It's a free site for all to access as and when they want/need.

Mumsnet never e-mails to ask for money as far as I am aware. I have never had such an e-mail in the cuple of years I've been here.

However, you can choose to subscribe to Mumsnet. This is a voluntary payment to Mumsnet, in order to help with finds. The amount is entirely up to the subscriber - there is no minimum or maxium donation given.

HTH.
