Quick rant...

Just to get it out of my system.

My boss is fab and wonderful and we work together really well - I'm very well supported at work and love what I do, but... He always books all the school holidays off and his children are 19 and 17 and I really want some of the holidays off and mine are only 5 and 3!

Just venting because I just e-mailed asking to have 3 days off this October half term and he's going away so I can't. He sent me his annual leave chart and he's booked the February half term and 2 weeks at Easter as well!

One of us needs to be in so that leaves me at work. If he had young children I wouldn't mind, but it really bugs me!!! (apologies to all parents with older children who think I'm being out of order).

That's it - rant over.

If you work together really well can you not talk to him about this? Perhaps he thinks that because yours are younger you aren't tied to school holidays. Although I assume the 5 year old is now at school. So perhaps he just doesn't think?

I think he's being a bit selfish. If he's booked everything up until Easter, could you book the summer half-term and next autumn's half-term now, to make a (slightly passive-aggressive)point?

I got DP to book his Christmas leave for this year back in February . He's at a big company though.

Def talk to him. Maybe he takes those dates off to fit un with his wife? Maybe agree to share the holidays out?

I know... I'm very pre-menstrual which isn't helping - need to think calmly. I've already booked a week off at Whit because I'm going away, and August isn't a problem as I have the first two weeks and boss has the second two (although that always gives him longer because of the bank holiday ) so that's kind of OK. It's the October and Feb half terms and Easter that's bugging me.

Grrrr... It upsets me 'cos it stirs up my guilt feelings of working anyway, and I hate not being able to be here when ds's are on holidays - ds1's in year 1 now and ds2 is in pre-school so school holidays are a big deal in our house now!
