as a follow on from the debacle that james caused and then won sympathy for. ( u are just like my husband young man.... have u muscles?.....oops thats my dirty mind..am being sexist again!)
bargain clothes from charity shops am not knocking that.... but the delight at them being designer concerns me. i think it gives creedence to the argument that the parents are somewhat to blame for five year old kids going into strops becuase they will have nothing less than " said named designer" and kids generally demanding more(this is not to say and i wish this bit to be underlines in light of recent events that i am making a personal attack.)
its like designer buggies... give me strength! i do think that designer clothes and how much they cost are 2 arguments, i think designer clothes for babies are obscene - like i think mobile phones for 9 year olds are too.. i also think the cost attached to them makes it more obscene, thats to say there are two issues here each can be considered sepreatley to the other.

ooooooh more debate!! btw has brian got muscles too?!!

GillW - it's a shame we're not about to meet up - you sound like a woman after my own heart!
One of the main reasons I refuse to pay 'proper ' prices for dd's clothes is her ability to cover any item with horrid orange stains ( lets face it all food stains are orange apart from chocolate and blackcurrant!)which won't come off - within minutes of first wearing it. I'm sure if I paid normal prices for her clothes I'd spend my whole life in tears!

I don't mind anything if it is a bargain!

Love raiding sales, charity shops, car boot sales etc. I quite like the stuff in Next just now and I don't mind the likes of the hooded sweatshirts that say Next on them or if the Next logo is small. I always liked the Next sale but I don't think they take as much of their stuff anymore. I generally buy in advance and buy alot of stuff from Adams, especially if they have a 70% off sale.

After reading this thread I tried eBay for the first time and unfortunately seem to be having problems with the seller. After him advertising that he would take payment by PayPal and me spending one hour trying to register to use PayPal and finally succeeding the seller has now come back to me saying that he does not accept PayPal, I am not too happy, he wants a cheque but I don't know if I am willing to pay postage on a cheque to America now as he is already charging IMO extortionate postage to post two small items of children's clothing to me already, anyway rant over. I like the stuff I have ordered from him and it was dirt cheap but I don't know if it is worth the hassle now.

Demented - Were you buying from ebay.com (mostly US based items) or ebay.co.uk (UK ones)? When I'm buying from the US I always make sure it's things which won't actually fit DS for a month or two, and then get them sent "economy surface" rather than airmail - it's a lot cheaper and in theory can take 4-6 weeks. In practice for small itms the US Postal Service usually seems to send them air mail anyway!

The problems you're having with Paypal may be to do with the rules in the US meaning that the seller needs to have a paypal business (rather than personal) account in order to receive credit card payments - in which case they also get charged 1% extra for international transactions. Sounds like your seller may not have realised this in advance.

I have to second what Lindy says about Primark - if you're ever in Ireland, check out Penneys (aka Primark) - we go over a few times a year to visit dh's family and stock up on fab baby clothes. Soooooooo cheap, and because there aren't many Primarks in England, it's a bit different too.
