anyone know where the development of this is up to and when it will be on the market? the last time i researched it was about18 months ago and they said it was 5 years in comming on the market , which is cutting it just a little fine for me as i need it for my 12 year old son in two or three years
oooooh the debating possibilities!

Custardo

What you read sounds about right from the research I did into late last year.

I want this to come along ASAP as DW doesn't want me to have the snip.

Glad to see you're back SH, thought you'd deserted us too. How's the job situation?

As for the male pill, how many people would actually trust their DH to take it and who would be at fault if it failed? Whilst I am taking the pill myself at least I know that it is my responsibility and I would have the ultimate decision at the end of the day if things went wrong. I'm reluctant to do anything permanent at the moment, just in case, but I'm 100% sure that in our current circumstances I would certainly not want another baby as I already find 3 children very hard work. If I won the lottery and was able to have the big house and pay for helpers then it might be a different story.

SH as you are keen to remind us, you are still a youngster and your doctor would probably be reluctant to let you have the snip. I know that our doctor wouldn't agree to refer my DH a couple of years ago because he said he was too young and that situations can change. Are you keen on the male pill as a belt and braces thing or would you take sole responsibility? Sorry for being personal.

As for 12 year old boys, why not? there are plenty of 12 year old sexually active girls and probably a fair number already on the pill. I wouldn't like to think that my daughter was relying on a young lad for contraception though, its one thing when you are in a stable relationship but most young lads don't take this sort of thing seriously.

12 y.o.girls don't normally manage to take the pill though!

A lot of women say they wouldn't trust their partner to take the pill but can men trust women to take it?

bundle · 18/09/2002 18:21

someone my sister was at school with got preggers at 14 cos she & her boyfriend took half of the pill each.

Tortington · 18/09/2002 20:19

lmao thats so funny!

thanks simonhoward for the info

an in response to some of the other postings..... my lad would take it i guarentee it ( you might have guessed my parenting skills arnt exactly mainstream!) and if more mothers like me took it upon themselves to make sure their sons took it as well as their daughters then we just might get somewhere. i just dont want their entire lives to be governed by a sexual encounter contraception free.
