How old were you before your parents stopped letting you see them naked?!

We were a pretty conservative family, thinking back. I remember seeing dad's bits when he stepped out of the shower and my mum using a tampon [eeekkk] but must have been about 4 or 5 and still traumatised! Apart from that can't remember anything else.

I can't ever imagine covering up in front of my girls...

Ah your DD is sheltered from not having a big brother. DD went through an annoying phase of every bathtime chasing DS round the house trying to grab his willy. Also once he had a tantrum at bathtime and it was all shaking about and she did get it. She also went through a phase of walking about the house naked, thrusting her groin forward and making weeing sounds.

PandaG · 25/09/2007 14:51

I still see my mum in the buff, bathroom door only locked at P's if DH is there too, otherwise she doesn't bother. Had many a chat while she is in the bath and I am on the loo!

islandofsodor · 25/09/2007 14:51

I've never stopped seeing my Dad naked. In fact when dh was dboyfriend he had a heck of a shock one morning to see starkers Dad dancing along the landing with a towel singing Rod Stewart Do you Think I'm Sexy!!!!!!!

Spidermama · 25/09/2007 14:52

I remember being mortified wih my dad for going to the loo naked when my friend was staying the night and I was around 12. I wouldn't have noticed had it not been for my friend. I don't think she saw but still.

Egypt -- I did send the sock thing in as a TIP when I was under another name (SixKindsofCrisis or MuddlingThrough) but I didn't think Mumsnet had used it, and I decided they only wanted 'proper' tips. Did they use it?

Egypt · 25/09/2007 14:55

wonder if it's a reflection on how close you are to your family?

OP posts:
Egypt · 25/09/2007 14:56

yes! actually, i MAY have started a thread on it - saying basically WTF?!

sorry - were you serious? We had a laugh. How can children possibly EVER be in the same sock range? I don't get it.....

This has just reminded me of an incident on a family holiday when I was younger. I had brought my best friend with me and late one night we locked ourselves out of our hotel room. We had to knock on my parents door to tell them and my dad answered the door with nothing on. My friend was horrified and quite possibly traumatised for life as she still brings it up now.

Threadworm · 25/09/2007 14:59

Not serious. Twas joke. It would be theoretically possible to ensure that your two kids were in same sock-size range. And then, if you bought all same colour you would never have to pair your kids socks.
{grin]

Meeely2 · 25/09/2007 14:59

i remember seeing my dad in the bath once, and even now 20 odd years on i can see the imagine a wee bit too vividly! All I can say is my son will have nothing to worry about if he takes after my side of the family!

Threadworm · 25/09/2007 15:00

Will hunt the thread ridiculing my Sensible Labour Saving Device.

Egypt · 25/09/2007 15:01

phew threadworm......

but even if they were one year apart, at some point one would be in the bigger size range than the youngest......anyway ENOUGH!!

Well, perhaps the plan has a few holes in it. But not as many as the holes in my kids' socks.

Egypt · 25/09/2007 15:04

I've just started buying my DSs socks they can share. It saves time in the morning. Instead of desperately searching for socks of different sizes, you can grab any old 2 pairs. They are usually odd though. It must save 5 mins, which is a lot of time on a schoolday morning.

I'm thinking about doing the same for underpants

MuffinMclay · 25/09/2007 16:38

I don't think I ever saw my parents naked. A combination of growing up with nutty religious/puritanical parents and a house with no heating.
