Dh will be arriving at Luton Airport tomorrow evening. He needs to go to Olympia for the Ski show. What is the best (eg quickest/cheapest/most simple) way to do it?

Also would he be beter off finding accomodation at Luton airport for Wednesday night, and then heading into London in the morning? Or going into London and finding somewhere to stay?

Thanks

Get the train from luton to Kings cross, walk just round the corner to Kings cross St Pancras (takes about 6 mins) and get the piccadilly line to earls court, change at earls court for kensignton olympia. Should take about half an hour altogether. Hth.

Wallace, I'm no expert but would imagine it might be cheaper to stay o'night in Luton rather than London. The train journey into London can't be that long and I'm guessing he doesn't need to be at Olympia early. Not sure which station Luton trains come into but from the map I'm looking at it I think it might be Kings Cross. But it may be possible for him to get off before Kings Cross at West Hampstead if it's not a through train, and get the jubilee line to Baker Street (heading Southbound), and from there get the circle line to Edgeware Road and then from Edgeware Road a district line train to either High St Kensington or Earls Court (same route) and from there get the train to Olympia (which is 2 stops from High St Ken or 1 stop from Earls Court). If on the other hand he comes into Kings Cross, he needs to get the circle line or Hammersmith and City Line or Metropolitan line (they all share the same track) and get off at Edgeware Road and then follow instructions as above. It's a while since I used that route, so I apologise if things have changed.

PS I know it all sounds like a marathon journey but in fact it is not very far at all, and most changes just involved staying on the same or adjacent platform. Or he could get a taxi!!

aAAARGH - posts crossed!!! If i'd known there was such a simple route I wouldn't have bothered... Definitely Lou's route sounds better! PS Earls Court can be quite a confusing station unless they've modernised the indicator boards so tell your dh not to be embarrassed about asking for directions to the Olympia trains.

USed to live in Luton as well, it takes about 35mins into london. There are plenty of hotels around the airport if he wants to stay there the night.

Kings X is being all done up at the moment and there's a few Travel Lodge and Comfort Inn type hotels that look really nice. Could be worth a look on a hotel site.
