X-mas pressie for DH ???

Nimme · 12/10/2004 14:41

We have set ourselves a limit this year of £50 (builders, baby swallowing everything else). We did that last year but both ended up cheating. This year I want to stick to it - but also make it something "proper". DH is tricky to buy for as he never hints and has been known to go shopping for himself 2 days before x-mas and buying what might already be under the tree for him!

Any ideas??

how about a subscription to a magazine he likes? or maybe some vouchers to have a nice manly massage etc in a salon.

Nimme · 12/10/2004 15:17

Yeah - magazine subscription is not bad idea. Tried the massage - he never went!

Thanks.

Any more?

Have you got a dvd player? sets of favourite tv shows go down well here (Blackadder, red dwarf..)

poppyseed · 12/10/2004 20:20

What's he 'into'

JanH · 12/10/2004 20:28

My DH is actually quite easy to buy for - he likes outdoors stuff so things like binocs, compasses, walking/mountain books, maps are good. He likes lots of old TV (he is old, this may be a factor!) so series like Monty P or Fawlty Towers; nasty violent films; games like dominoes (got a really old tatty set off ebay this year in a filthy wooden box, he loved it). Astronomy - maps of the stars. Last Christmas I got a small oil painting of a place he often goes to with DS2 at weekends. He likes sport too so books/magazines/videos go down well (lots of biographies of sports people).

HTH!

zubb · 12/10/2004 20:30

tickets for something - sports event / concert / show?

Nimme · 12/10/2004 21:16

sis - yeah got DVD but I always buy that...
JanH - also lots of biographies. LOL at nasty violent films. DH loves his war films and anything to do with history - perhaps I could dig deeper there.

Zubb - yeah tickets are not a bad idea.

Poppyseed - he is into his motorbike and composing music (poppy/balad stuff) - oh and wars and history.

This is turning into more of a thinking out loud session. Thanks guys.

The World at War? V old but still a fantastic series and i think most of the people interviewed on it are now dead. By which I mean that they won't be popping up on Channel 5 any time soon.

poppyseed · 12/10/2004 21:44

How about a track day with his bike? A friend of mine organises through the www.motorcyclefolly.co.uk It may be worth a try?

Nimme · 13/10/2004 15:21

Acnebride - he bought himself the World at War

poppyseed - track day sounds good. I'll check out straight away. Thanks

I have got my dp a folder thing that holds 500 cds/cdroms. I know he will spend an evening or two really enjoying putting them in there in alphabetical order so it will be £15 well spent, if not the most unromantic pressie ever!

Bunglie · 13/10/2004 15:24

A Bungie Jump!

I always wanted to WATCH someone, but would never do it myself, and he could not refuse if you gave it to him as a pressie....he will love it go on...do it [evil]

Nimme · 13/10/2004 15:24

poppyseed - too expensive but will keep info for next birthday (no budget on those)!!

Thanks again.
