Help! My DD cut her forehead open!

My little girl (just turned 5) and she head planted the corner of her bed on Wednesday night, resulting in a horrible cut to her forehead. It looked pretty deep to me but didn't bleed that much considering, she only had one speck on her pyjamas. My DH took her straight to A&E and she had some steri-strips on it within the hour. Apparently the nurse said she didn't think it needed stitches and didn't even mention glueing it! They told us to keep the strips on for at least 5 days and not to get it wet. They put a big plaster type thing over the top of it to ensure she doesn't mess with it which so far is working well. I keep asking how it feels and she just says '"fine" so it doesn't seem to be bothering her or hurting her at all which I find strange.
I haven't seen it since she left for the hospital as obviously the plaster is still on now. I am pretty nervous as to what it is going to look like when we finally take it off as i really don't want her little face scarred for life badly as it is right in the middle of her forehead! I have done a tonne of research since it happened and ordered some Mederma cream and silicone gel to put on religiously once it has healed and am going to do all I can to ensure any scarring she has will be minimal. I've been and bought lots of vitamin C food to help her body heal naturally too! She's going to be so fed up of oranges in 5 days!!
I was just wondering if anyone has any further advice for me please. I've tried to upload a photo but not sure if worked (this is my first ever post)!
Thank you, xxx

steri stripping is sometimes the most aporopriate way of closing a wound like this.

your lovely dd will probably get a scar, but with good care it will heal well and will be almost invisible.

most important is uv protection, when dc had a cut on the face we covered it with a plaster until skin was healed enough to use sun cream.
vit e is supposed to minimise scarring, we used food suplement capsules that we punctured and rubbed on.

be prepared for the scar to be noticable for a while. it can take up to a year to fade.

Thank you for replying. I'm pretty upset about it. She is fine but obviously doesn't understand the same at her age.

Once the steri-strips are off I am planning on covering with a plaster every time she leaves the house until it has healed enough to use suncream. I will literally try anything to make sure the scar is as minimal as possible for her.

I'm just praying it is healing well under her plaster and they managed to close it well with the strips as that I'm guessing gives you a good head start! xxx

Chill. Seriously. its no big deal.

DS opened his head up multiple times (SN no saving reflexes when he trips). On some occasions he reopened it. One was glued the rest steristripped. I got very adept at steristrips. None of them have scarred and we haven't used anything on them.

I cut my lip open (bad enough for several stitches) as a young teen. I do even now have a significant scar but neither of my Kids noticed it until I showed them. And That was on my lip!

My youngest split his head open really badly when he was young. They were very close to stitching it. At first the scar was very red but it has faded down over time. Looking at him now, I have to look to see where it is.

Same here, DS fell if his bike at 3 & needed 3 steri strips in the centre of his forehead. I was beside myself at the prospect of a scar. When it was healed & dry we rubbed bio oil on morning & evening, it was red then pink and took 2 years to fade but is now a feint silvery line which you would not see unless looking purposefully for it.
