Here's a tip for you!

OK, so it's actually a cheap shot at advertising but new baby clothes are so expensive nowadays!

If you're looking for quality, affordable, nearly new baby clothes try www.buybabyclothes.co.uk.

Happy shopping

Good luck with the business, James.

JamesK · 16/09/2002 00:25

Thank you for your kind words ScummyMummy(?) and Jonesmum. If you haven't read the other ongoing thread "Is it always this personal on mumsnet" then you might like to. After all the 'trouble' I'm really glad that there doesn't seem to be any permanent damage done and people are making up.

I tried not to come back to mumsnet to check the latest but it's more addictive than Eastenders!

I can see why you value it so much.

This will be my last response to this or any other thread. I've got work tomorrow (today now!).

Thanks again.

James

Demented · 16/09/2002 07:43

You'll be back! Mumsnet does that to people! ;o

Demented · 16/09/2002 07:43

Darn! That was supposed to be a wink! Try again

tigermoth · 16/09/2002 10:52

BuyBabyClothesLtd, you don't half sound like SimonHoward when you get going

Clarinet60 · 16/09/2002 19:39

James, you WILL be back, there is no escape. This place is more difficult to leave than the Hotel California. And good luck with your business venture.

Willow2 · 16/09/2002 22:23

Blimey - yesterday morning I tried to add a message to this conversation but couldn't. Since then computer has been on go slow and has only just started working again. Anyway, James, here is the original message....

Oh, Ok - took a look at your site. Not a bad idea - second hand clothes shops exist on the high street, why not on the net? Although I do wonder whether prospective purchasers are more likely to want to see the goods before they than they would with brand new items. Anyway, good luck to you. (I'm not so much of a cow that I can't wish any entrepeneur success).
However, I take great pride in being able to spot a bargain and a hundred yards and so I am mortally insulted by the insinuation that my Gymboree snow suit find is expensive at £4. You're selling a t-shirt from them at £3.25 and a Gap quilted waistcoat at over £4. I think that an as new big thick puffa style jacket and matching lined waterproof trousers for £4 represents pretty good value! Good luck anyway.

Since then I've picked up an as new Gap raincoat - rrp about £40? - for £2. Don't even get me started on the Ralph Lauren polo shirts for 50p - but can I just say a big thank you to whoever it is who lives in my neck of the woods and has a kid a bit older than mine and loads more dosh than I could ever hope for. My ds looks great in your cast-off's.

jodee · 17/09/2002 08:27

Willow2 - where's your neck of the woods, pleeeease!

bells2 · 17/09/2002 08:44

A friend of mine regularly trawls charity shops in Notting Hill and finds the most gorgeous designer clothes for her 4 year old daughter. Most look like new.

bayleaf · 17/09/2002 09:52

Yep - I'm a great fan of charity shops - and I only ever buy stuff that could be taken as 'new' - though I find car boot sales often even better on price ( unfortunately then don't have the moral glow of having got a bargain whilst giving money to a worthy cause!

tigermoth · 17/09/2002 13:31

School jumble sales and boot fairs in very affluent areas are full of cheap treasures. Just phone up the school to ask what's on when.

Willow2 · 17/09/2002 14:21

Jodee - London, SW14.

jodee · 17/09/2002 17:46

Thanks Willow2, but a little out of my way, unfortunately, so your Gap bargains are safe!

BuyBabyClothesLtd · 17/09/2002 18:47

I couldn't stay away! I had to check the thread!

Thanks to all those that have offered good luck wishes. I'm happy to say that it's going really well!

Willow2 - Fair play to you! You certainly know how to find a bargain. If you can regularly find enough items at those prices you should consider joining the Company as a Franchise in London - you'd make a fortune!

Bayleaf mentioned the 'moral glow' of buying from charity shops. If you like that idea you should go along to your local NCT sales. You can get details of all the up and coming sales in your area by clicking this link:

NCT Pregnancy & Baby Care

(thanks again to SueDonim for showing me how to do that!).

By the way, if you check the list of subscribers you'll now find BuyBabyClothesLtd. I've also been talking to Justine about advertising potential...

No doubt I'll be back (even though I'll try not to!).

Jamesk, surely Willow2 couldn't be a franchise, she'd have to be a franchisee? Or is the vocabulary part of your brian not working?

Clarinet60 · 17/09/2002 21:55

LOL www!
I knew you'd be back James.
Bet you're reading this now, aren't you?

Clarinet60 · 18/09/2002 09:37

JamesK, I've read on another thread that you've been mortally offended and have stropped off for good. Can't work out why, but whatever has upset you, do be upset. Come back! I'm sure you just read it the wrong way. I can't even find the offending post, so you must have done.

Clarinet60 · 18/09/2002 09:37

Whoops! Meant DON'T be upset. (Brian's gone).

Jbr · 18/09/2002 13:19

I never had a problem with this. Asda is relatively cheap. Primark is cheap. I wish it had opened a few years ago though! We could have done with it.

Charity shops are good. They do not all do second hand clothes. Some shops knit their own clothes.

I think clothes are getting cheaper.

XAusted · 18/09/2002 20:34

Glad everyone seems to have calmed down a bit.

Hmm, yes, Primark is cheap (buy my own clothes there!) but it's easy to see why. Not the highest quality in the world. Sometimes better to spend equivalent money on good quality second hand clothes. (IMHO) NCT sales are great, especially those in affluent areas.

Will have to look at JamesK's website now to see what all the fuss is about ...
