Got a flyer in the Observer yesterday - they are soo cheap and seem to beKosher in that you don't have to promise to buy a book a month for the rest of your natural life!!

Has anyone used them?? Ae they good??

Twinkie, they are GREAT. We regularly buy inexpensive books from them either for ds and dd or as birthday presents/party bag goodies.
They deliver within days of ordering in my experience. No commitment, as you say.
Their website is a bit of a dog's breakfast though! Other than that, highly recommended.

TraceyP · 11/10/2004 11:44

My MIL uses The Book People all the time, they are kosher and she has never had any problems with them. Some of the children's books she has bought for dd are a bit crappy but their other books are fine and just as you would buy them from a book shop.

Twinkie

They've been going for ages, yes they seem to be alright. As well as operating on the web they use agents to sell books thru workplaces like offices.

Most of the stuff they do seems to be publishers remaindered stuff, but for kids books they do have a good selection

teabelly · 11/10/2004 11:45

Yeah I'd second that I've used them on and off now for the last 12 months and they're great. Fast delivery and all kosher - will always go to them first - why pay more - for example the 'you are what you eat' book is about £5 with them and in WH Smiths for £13!! Daft not to use them IMO

Twinkie · 11/10/2004 11:47

Ooohhh Horrah - that will get a few bits out of the way to go with DPs big pressie!!

Thanks all - the packs of kids books do look great too so will buy some to put away for DD!!

throckenholt · 11/10/2004 12:06

we got a complete set of hardback Thomas tank engine books in a box for either 20 or 30 pounds - about 18 months ago - have bought nothing since with no problems.

aloha · 11/10/2004 12:19

They are great, and so is Red House Books for children. No catch at all!

Carameli · 11/10/2004 12:38

I have not used them for a while but they used to come to my school quite a bit(teacher). I have got loads of bargains from them so would certainly recommend them.
Also like aloha I think Red House is fab for children. When I was studying I bought loads of childrens books to use on teaching practice from them, really good!!

Tiggiwinkle · 11/10/2004 12:58

I have used them for several years-they have really excellent bargains, and as has been said already, there is no catch or commitment whatsoever.

Clayhead · 11/10/2004 17:19

Love 'em to bits.

I share orders with my mum, spend over £25 and get free postage.

Look out for the lucky dips (usually August), 10 books for £5, brilliant for presents. Sometimes the Book Ends section of the website has these too.

Yes, I spend a fortune with them as well

But it is great value, and if you know what you're looking for they have excellent quality books.

Keep an eye on 'book-ends' on the website, as there are some fantastic bargains on there from time to time.

dottee · 11/10/2004 19:14

I always order from them at Christmas and can't resist when samples are left in school.

woodpops · 12/10/2004 08:24

Mancmum, is the new trinny and susannah book worth getting???
