Where would you look for a baby class to attend?

Don't want to go into detail for fear of advertising, but I could do with some inspiration! The obvious have been done... clinics, shops that have boards or leaflet places, children's info service, and in the process of sorting out libraries. But where would you a) look and b) think was a suitable place i.e. making the class look professional. We also have a small budget, so can't afford to shell out loads on advertising costs.

In Kent theres a magazine that can be picked up called the Grapevine. It can be picked up from doctors/library etc and it has adverts for baby classes, horseriding, swimming lessons, gymnastics, tumble tots as well as a list of all the nurserys, regular coffee mornings etc. Its the first place I look.

We have a couple of mags, eg Families. But there's not one that dominates, so I dont know if its worth the outlay... only see them in one or two places each.
Have done a leaflet swop with another (unsimilar) group, so can give each others out, which is good.

Have you approached midwives/Hvs?

Have put ads and leaflets in the baby clinics, and our HV is starting a mother and baby group after clinic soon, so may be able to do a taster session there, which would be good for both parties concerned! They dont really do post natal courses etc in this area, so no openings there.

Local NCT branch?

Jollymum · 10/10/2004 12:58

Do your locals schools have a booklet that each child receives, our is called Kids Direct and it's fairly expensive but goes to all the schools round here and the nurseries. HTH

thanks all! Local newsletter is a good idea that i hadn't thought of actually. there's one for where I live, so they might be able to help re the relevant one for our venue.
We did leaflets in bags at an NCT sale, but that was suprisingly unsucessful.

There is a web site called netmums that has a whats on section - can't do a link as trying to balance DD on knee!

I run an activity for older children. We advertise in:

local newspapers (expensive though)

Local pre-school mag distributed through schools/toddler groups/libraries

NCT newlsetter

netmums.com

Leaflets to libraries

Mailshot and leaflets to all local schools (you could alter this and send to baby/toddler groups)
