Well, as some of you will know, we adopted Ronnie and Charlie a few weeks ago from Blossom2 and her dh and dd who are off to live in Paris! They're gorgeous and have settled in beautifully and as far as we can tell are pretty happy. Problem is that they want to go outside - Ronnie in particular sits at the door mieowing loudly. I have taken him out in the garden twice now along with me for a few minutes, but am worried about letting him out alone. I realize this is what cats do, but wondered how you let go for the first time. They did go outside in their previous home, but as yet we have no cat-flap. Please, any of you cat owners, if you have any advice, I'd be really grateful. I feel bad about keeping them in, just don't want them to run off!!

Cheers Kanga - I can't tell you how pleased I am - it kind of feels like they've accepted us as their new owners and that's a really good feeling!

Is Blossom2 in paris yet?

Does she know I haven't seen her on mumsnet but I guess she is really busy either getting ready or orting out once there.

Actually, I haven't heard from them. Will email them soon with updates - expect they're pretty busy though - think the move was to be this week!

Great news Aero :-). Our cat settled in really well when we adopted her too.

If only I knew how to solve the problem of the cat being fed up with the baby getting 9/10 of the attention... ds loves the cat, thinks she's fascinating, but she doesn't hang around long as he makes noises and moves and she gets alarmed. Hey ho, I guess I'll just have to hope she comes round. Although I swear I can see her thinking 'WHEN are they going to get rid of this annoying thing?'.
