Dull afternoon at work....

it is my last day of work for the week (i work 3 days) and also for a while as we are off on holiday to France on Saturday with ds, dh and my parents. Having a really boring afternoon - have already switched off and dont have much to do (mu boss is also on hols). Feel i could be doing much more useful stuff at home - i.e. getting ready for hols but can't just leave 2 hours early.

have exhausted all the websites about travelling with children, books etc

Any ideas of how i could usefully pass the time??

Snap -n its my last working day and we go away in 2 weeks. I finish in 1 hour !

I tend to while away a few minutes making a list of the things I need to pack for dds and us two for the hols !!

manfwood - can you leave an hour early and get yourself a treat? manicure or buy a nice little something?

Manfwood · 04/09/2002 15:17

Well that would be nice but don't feel i can just waltz out of work without a decent excuse - it's bad enough being part time anyway - not that my boss is around but i would feel bad.

Will try the list thing - although already have a list at home!

my problem is i'm too good!

you are too good! where in France are you going to? we've just come back from Brittany and had lovely weather

Manfwood · 04/09/2002 15:44

We are going to Normandy - not far from Pont L'Eveque. Have long ferry trip and don't think the weather is going to be great on Saturday - they keep saying it is going to change...

Still hope it will be nice - looking forward to all the nice food and wine and a few evenings out on our own!

have you been on any websites about restaurants/activities in the location of your holiday - that would use up your last hour!

we had a pretty rough crossing (poole-st.malo) but it was all fine in the end. have a lovely break. I did wish a lot that my schoolgirl french was better - how's yours?

Thanks for all your suggestions - have been on a few websites and have some info at home - my eyes are hurting from doing so much surfing.

My French is OK but rusty as haven't been for a while - i will be taking the phrase book just in case but usually find i can do the basics and start picking up within a few days. Will be interesting to see how ds (9 months) copes with it all and if he is willing to try different food -taking some jars just in case but hear French babyfood is nice and also hope to get him to eat some more normal stuff as well.

Hi there - we have just got back from Normany/Brittany, and the kids really loved Honfleur, where we had lunch and wandered round looking at the boats, and then the Bayeux Tapestry which is really really worth it.

Have a lovely time, anyway
