So unfortunately we don't have any children and it is unlikely that we will.

Do you think Christmas can still be enjoyable without children? I worry i will feel even more lonely

I had to change my mind-set as to what Christmas looked like.

It’s taken a long time, but now my preferred Christmas is quite simple, good food, maybe have a friend or two round, —avoid MIL—, spoil DH and my dogs.

It’s a loss, and like most losses, it takes time to heal. 💐💐for you.

My friends don’t have DC’s and although have invites to family Christmas’s they usually go on holiday. This year they are in Switzerland having a lovely snowy Christmas. Last year they went to Boston. They have special Christmas’s just different from the traditional one at home.

I don't have children through choice. I love Christmas because it's a lovely break.

I think it comes down to your mindset. There are lots of things that you can do as an adult to feel Christmassy.

I have a DH but before I got married I used to deliberately spend Xmas day on my own and it was great. I had the food that I wanted, bought a dvd to watch and happily enjoyed the day without any stress.

Also forgot to mention we have been on holiday over Xmas and new year with my DH. We picked adults only places and they really made an effort to celebrate (usually Xmas eve rather than Xmas day) and it felt festive and luxurious.

Yes it can be fun, but if you are still grieving over no children it can emphasis that.
You will find your own way. Hopefully today !

Yes it absolutely can! Myself and DW got up at 5.30am to open presents before she went to work. I've taken the dog out for a lovely walk and am lounging about until she gets home at 2pm where we will eat a ton of cheese, drink wine and do dinner before a boardgame and TV! It is what you let it be!

I think they key thing is to define the Christmas you want it to be. There is no limit on this. It can be as quiet or as extravagant as you want it to be. There are no rules so don't try and conform if you don't want to.

I don’t have kids and I love Christmas! We (my partner and I) usually get up and exchange gifts in the morning, head to my mums and have a Buck’s Fizz breakfast then head to another relatives in the afternoon where we have Christmas dinner and see the kids in the family/other family members then head home where we continue to eat, drink, play board games and watch Xmas tv and films.

Christmas is what you make it, OP.

Well put it like this, I'm still in bed ! Grin. We've had breakfast and presents and half a bottle of champagne. He's in the shower. Soon we will go over to his mum's where we will cook dinner, but Christmas morning was ours, and blissful. Not having kids can hurt sometimes (we have unexplained infertility) but I love our life and I'm not ruling out fostering when we are older. For now, lazy indulgent Christmas mornings it is!
