just being nosy (again)

We are (well it is me really!)toying with the idea of Butlins (ahem), as it seems affordable at this time of year..

Anyone got any other ideas for a cheap mini break ( it has to be in school holiday time)just prior to Xmas?

I don't want to be even thinking about Christmas just yet, thank you very much! It's only September!!

Got 12 coming round for late xmas lunch - in the morning it will just be me, dd, dh and ddog! Really looking forward to it this year after a horrible xmas last year when I had glandular fever and dh slipped a disc and we had a massive row with my parents!

We usually spend xmas flogging around between our various parents houses so am really really looking forward to all of them having to do the flogging around for a change

Will go for a walk with the dog in Richmond Park in the morning, back and have pressies and brunch then I guess start cooking the turkey and having a few glasses of wine....

Boxing Day going to the footie

I love it when this thread comes round each year!

Xmas eve christingle, wrapping then blissfully quiet midnight mass without ds (and hopefully I'll still be pg so I'll be guaranteed a seat!).

Wake up as a family on Xmas morning and exchange presents. Drive to M&Ds (hopefully without blowing a tyre this year) for trad big family thing (except will be very strange without gdad to hold everyone together, and big bruv will be with his dp's family this year). Dad will cook a wonderful lunch and I will camp out in the kitchen with him as his main G&T provider (won't be joining him this year).

I am exploiting the "I am still your child" business at Xmas for as long as possible - I get a complete day off from when we arrive at M&Ds!

Sooooo excited!

This year I am "doing" Xmas for the first time myself. My Grandma died this year, so I didn't want my Mum to do the normal family Xmas at hers with a big Grandma sized hole in it, so they are coming here, but it's dh's familys "turn" so tehy are coming too - I will have 15-17 people here from Xmas eve to Boxing day!
I am getting v. excited about starting my own traditions - I think we'll keep my others of coffee/tea with slugs of whisky for breakfast, but substitute Nigellas muffins for my mothers shortbread. Then present opening, bacon sarnies, walk by the lake before a late lunch (I'm thinking of going for the Swaddles 5 bird roast). And breaking a family tradition there will be NO arguments...
