I have worked out that, to date, my kids have destroyed (as opposed to outgrowing, wearing out, etc)......

£3,000 worth of toys. Approximately.

Bloody hell fire!

Is this some sort of record?

Sheherazadethegoat · 19/08/2007 11:21

what sort of toys do you have?

WanderingTrolley · 19/08/2007 11:22

Stop buying golden toys.

Get second hand plastic shit.

Sheherazadethegoat · 19/08/2007 11:23

pmsl @ golden toys

LadyTophamHatt · 19/08/2007 11:24

Thast alot of toys.

Nemo2007 · 19/08/2007 11:24

WTF how are they destroying them??? What toys do they have???
do they have no respect...pmsl

FromGirders · 19/08/2007 11:25

Try Duplo instead - it's indestructible .

tigerschick · 19/08/2007 11:26

Agree about buying second hand - if they don't like it then tell them to take care of them and you'll think about letting them have 'new' ones again soon.

MyTwopenceworth · 19/08/2007 11:31

What kind of kids do I have, Allgonebellyup? I have autistic ones.

I know folks, it is obscene isn't it! I couldn't believe how much it's added up over the years!!

FromGirders · 19/08/2007 11:32

Maybe duplo isn't suc a good bet then - no experience here i'm afraid, but didn't mean to be flippant.

MyTwopenceworth · 19/08/2007 11:32

ds1 is the worst, smash, smash, smash. All toys are targets. Those marketed as indestructable are used to destroy the others!!

OP posts:
WanderingTrolley · 19/08/2007 11:33

Over how many years is it?
Do you have a flow chart?
Have some years been more destructive than others?
I've broken a few toys in my time. But only as an adult
Some toys are blardy annoying.

MyTwopenceworth · 19/08/2007 11:37

Oh, it's over 8 years. Roughly 3/4 of all toys bought have gone out in bin liners, smashed to smithereens! I know this, as I'm the one who's always had to bag it all up!

I know the cost, cos I spend the same amount every year for birthdays & christmas, apart from 2 years of financial HELL where we had bog all!

It's just such a lot, when you tot it up. I wondered who else had kids so heavy on the toys!

Less than £400 a year on average - think of it that way, it sounds less.

Love the description of your boys on your profile.

Thank you. They are smashing (haha) lads, so fabulous. I know I'm biased, but they've got so much character, iyswim. I love their 'weirdness', I know that probably sounds stupid, I guess you'd have to know them to get it!

My 5yo DD isn't the delicate flower where toys are concerned either. I would estimate that she has prob only got through about £150 worth of stuff in 5yrs.

MyTwopenceworth · 19/08/2007 11:46

After 8 years, I can confidently tell you that nothing is unbreakable!!

It's not a problem as such (I know that sounds odd! But it's just one of those things iyswim) I was just shocked it added up to so much!
