ok, writing something down and the persons surname is Stephen, so do I write Mrs Stephens will be there or Mrs Stephen's will be there?

To apostrophe or not that is the question?

Please help I'm no good at this and it's an important flyer that I have to send out and I can't bear the thought of people reading and laughing at my terrible punctuation.

thank you all

erm isn't it Mrs. Stephen will be there.

lurkylou · 16/08/2007 23:56

You say her name is Mrs Stephen so why would you want to start calling her Stephens!!!

Mrs Stephen's cat will be there (i.e. the cat of Mrs Stephen) would need an apostrophe

MyPoorSoreBum · 16/08/2007 23:57

agree, mrs stephen is her name, not mrs stephens.

no apostrophe needed.

doh of course it is. Sorry it's just so late and I should have gone to bed ages ago but I really needed to get this finished tonight and I've lost all concentration.

thank you for pointing out my stupid mistake
