Theres adverts on the radio and tv telling everyone to reapply or the money will be stopped. I put in a fresh claim a couple of months ago, does it apply to me?
Have you did it?

I'm not sure but website is here .

Have you heard back? And is this your first claim? If it is then it does not apply to you. the advert is aimed at those of us who applied for year 2003/4. Hope that helps.

coppertop · 23/09/2004 21:18

It's usually one claim per year unless you have a change of circumstances so you should be okay if you only applied a couple of months ago.

They usually write and tell you when to re-apply. You get a statement showing what details they had for the last financial year and ask you if there are any changes or if they've missed anything out. HTH

First claim, yes, heard back money going in to accounts and no letters from them asking to reapply, that means im ok then?

Sounds fine. You won't need to reapply until next year unless your circumstances change.

Had an argument with these people earlier this evening, they make a mistake but I'm £300 out of pocket this month - grrrrr.

And they can't spell - it's "GoverNment" - you'd think they would get that one right!

yingers74 · 23/09/2004 22:05

charliecat, yep u should be fine.
However as jodee points out, they make frequent mistakes, but fingers crossed you will have no probs. They keep doubling our income due to an IT error, and so I owe them 1300 pounds now!!! I KNOW this is wrong so panic has not set in yet! But anger levels are pretty high

I've finally lost count of all the errors they've made with our claims. They completely missed off ds2 altogether, then deducted the wrong amount when he turned 1. Extra payments started appearing in August and we had no idea why. It's now late September and they finally seem to have got our claim right for this year.

charliecat · 23/09/2004 22:29

I rang up and got 3 diffrnet answers so I did it online where I could see I was at least putting in the right info...Thanks, they are a useless bunch though!

I got the form and rang them up to tell them about ds's birth. Do I have to do anything else or does that count as re-applying?

misdee · 23/09/2004 23:13

they deleted my kids once. that was nice of them.

linniewith2 · 23/09/2004 23:31

did it via the phone as had just had new baby and estimated earnings dropped as they dont count any smp or ssp as earnings. Firstly they did the claim based upon last years earnings then adjusted figures with an extra child and lower earnings!............Just got lucky with the operator who actualy knew what they were talking about for a change!
So you still need to reapply based on last yrs p60's then you can have it adjusted for any changes this year.
hth

Have had to phone a few times recently. If you were sent a renewal form, AND you are getting more than the bogstandard £545 a year, you MUST send the form back by 30 September or your claim is terminated.

If you are only getting £545 I THINK it's OK...

Momof2 · 28/09/2004 12:35

Yes, I spoke with them last night and because we get 545 amount we get an automatic award so don't have to do anything - unless our circumstances change.
Should think they have been inundated with calls as the ad's made it sould like everyone had to return the form before this Thursday - which is why I called. Apparantly they have changed the wording at the end now, but its too late...
