Doea anyone run or know how to go about setting up one of these childrens activity centres - you know the ones with the scaffolding all covered in soft stuff and refreshments etc - usually set up in a warehouse or industrial unit etc. Where is the scafoolding and equipment provided from - any contact numbers etc?

No it is a unit that has this scaffolding play centre set up with ball pools and slides and hidey holes etc for the kids to play in. They also have a kitchen where meals are provided and refreshments and they usually charge a couple of pounds for an hours and a half play.

Helsi, I took my kids to one in Stalybridge near Manchester this summer and they loved it. I wish there were more of them around. I'm racking my brains trying to think of the name of it. I don't know if it was a franchise or not. Have you googled or anything to see if there are any franchises like that?

pixiefish · 22/09/2004 18:21

here's one they may be able to give you info if they're out of your area and you won't be any competition to them

Branster · 22/09/2004 18:48

no idea where you'd get the equipment from, but these soft play centres are great, especially when the weather is bad. i should think your bussiness would do very well. good luck!

There is one near us set up by a couple of mums, they use the local rugby club on weekdays and there is a bouncy castle, ride on toys and soft shapes. One of the mums is a former chef and the food is great. This caters for pre-school children and is very popular

Can you set one up in Cambridge...as there isn't one?

Kate - was it Alphabet Zoo? Know nothing about getting the equipemnet but did hear once that it cost approx 40k - that could be completely wrong though

Tinker, Alphabet Zoo doesn't sound right. I seem to remember the name had something to do with pirates?

Take my ds to one once a week. He loves it. It is £3 and you can stay as long as you want. There is a little cafe (doesnt sell anything flash). They do toddler activities is the morning too.

In the evening they hire it out to adults!!!! My work had a works do there once! It is very very big though and had a massive inflatable called Jelly mountain that the adults seem to enjoy more than the children!

KateandtheGirls was it called Castaway? I know there's ones called that near here
